So let’s jump from Ust-Luga to Primorsk
It’s a distance away

And let’s jump from Primorsk to Kirishi refinery

Right now, several explosions in Crimea (which is hardly in St. Petersburg and much more common area to strike)
BAVOVNA in Crimea!

Hvardiyske, Fiolent, Saky, Simferopol area.

No idea as to what they hit.

As for the night’s drone and missile strikes, damage will be unknown mostly for a few hours yet. Maybe satelite imagery and videos tomorrow morning or late this night (but having slept very little latetly, I won’t stay awake for that).

I shall post results tomorrow. Hopefully Moskva doesn’t respond with tactical nuclear strikes before then  (joking, but this is rather fucking serious for them, though Trump has given them a major helping hand ofc).

Edit: Also yes, it is an example of the UKROSHAHED you see on videos and images above. Ukraine uses multiple drone types in these strikes, including the retro-engineered shahed, as well as Mathias Rust-like propeller plane drones with big bombs and some missiles on top of that.

Presumably from a captured Russian/Iranian model?

Yes.
Some of them have been brought down by Ewar (many of them actually), luck, guns and etc.
Sometimes Shaheds just crash for unknown reasons as well.

Is this Ukraine stepping up its efforts on oil infrastructure a response to oil prices and lifting of sanctions?

Partly. But this has been in the making for over a year.

If you scroll up maybe a hundred posts or so, you would notice an absurd number of Russian BUKs, S-400, TOR and various other forms of air defence being destroyed in astronomical numbers.
So while this operation may have been “forced” now due to Trump’s insanity, it has been planned for at least 6 months (I think year).

Ukraine understands that they need to grieviously injure Russian war industry and petrolium exports for Putin to accept more favourable peace conditions. And we have seen this now for a while, more and more successful strategic bombing. And now we see Putin asking oligarchs for donations to the Russian budget. So they are truly hurting.

I would like to demonstrate so people understand the numbers involved. Note, that these numbers are merely that which is documented on video. There are more losses than this (but likely most losses of GBAD has been filmed). Also, this list does not show the updates from the last months.

Last updated 01.02.2026, so does not contain the incredible number of TORs destroyed in March.

First the less important guns

The far more important missile batteries:

Air defence radars systematically destroyed:

Air Defence electronic warfare:

My point is that this campaign is strategic. Attacking St. Petersburg with such ridiculous success, absolutely impossible without this grueling time consuming ground work. Ru produces a lot of GBAD annually, so it has been incredibly important to destroy far more than they produce, which Ukraine has succeeded in doing.

This is the key to attacking War Industry and Petrolium and Gas.

Russia are destined to lose. They’ve thrown thousands upon thousands of what have proven to be effective weapons for the pure effect of terror bombings. They will inflict casualties, sow fear, cause economic damage but at the end of the day, will do very little damage to Ukraine’s ability to wage war thus it is an utterly foolhardy strategy, if deadly, morale sapping and time consuming. It’s Hitler firebombing British cities instead of targeting the RAF all over again.

It might be an oversimplification however to compare the Ukrainian overall strategy is to see a clear picture of economic and materiel degradation over time with clear patterns of targeting. They (were) obviously short of materiel as compared with the Russians and so the counter strike campaign began slower with large intervals in between but used the time wisely in the targeting of air defense systems. These sorts of operations under materiel constraints when compared to the enemy are often underappreciated for planning that goes into them, the surgical nature of them (alot of people still view surgical as a Tomahawk through your window and nothing else) and the groundwork laid in prepping the way by the elimination of air defenses.

Russian by comparison is flailing away with it’s superior numbers yet awful strategy while bleeding from hundreds of precision strikes over the last 12 months and with the advance in Ukrainian production of these weapons at scale, will bleed even more regularly.

The Russian use of drones and ballistic missiles is very reminiscent of the use of V1 and V2 missiles in the latter stages of the second world war, just with better navigation, but still attacking civilian targets.

Let’s hope we don’t get to Dresden - either way.

Last night the bombing continued in Leningrad Oblast, on the same refineries, specifically Ust-luga.
Here is the current status there
