The Russian Invasion of Ukraine (Part 2)

I am pretty sure this is a NATO chess move. and I’m sure that Putin knows this.

Russia can keep pounding its fists on its chest all it wants. They now have stolen UA oil rigs burning in the Black Sea which will cause issues to the surrounding countries for pollution and contamination.

I’m hoping the Crimean Bridge gets hit, that would be a key mark to kill the Russian supply line that feeds their attack on the Black Sea, especially Sevastopol navy base and the attacks on Kherson as a whole.

The crazy price he achieved makes me wonder who was behind the bidding. Great result!

Lads, I’ll be away for a couple of days. I’ll try to post updates.

You deserve a break. Posting so much on this thread killed @Magnus and @Livvy so we don’t want to lose another TANite

This is interesting. As always with Germany, things take time as they are being thoroughly discussed and there is a culture of not proimising things which can’t be held. But when things start to roll, then it becomes serious. Knowing them, I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that Germany will be the biggest effective supplier of weapons to Ukraine before the end of this year.

Also, their extreme dependency on Russian gas has to be reversed and it will be interesting to see how much time they take to achieve that, and how. As a first step, they have now announced that they’ll intensify coal production in order to replace electricity production from Russian gas. A further catastrophe for the climate (and thus, for us all), but a typically radical decision in order to start freeing them up from that dependency on Russian gas.

Promise? Because lately there’s been a culture of promising things that aren’t held. I’d definitely appreciate a bit of back to normal.

Yeah, you surely see it differently as an insider. :joy: But I lived in Germany during the nineties, and what struck me while I was there is that important issues get discussed extensively until suddenly, a decision happens, often a radical one. Then, everyone rallies around the decision and pulls at the same string to make it happen.

Coming from a country where things get discussed extensively too, but often come to no conclusion at all because a ‘compromise’ is found between all parties, basically agreeing to not decide nor hardly do anything, the way how things were done struck me as a bit of a culture shock at the time. Looking in from the outside, I get the feeling that it’s still like that nowadays, but happy to be corrected if wrong.

It’s a bit of a cliché, but I agree, it’s mostly true. Painfully slow and meticulous discussion and planning before reaching decisions is usually somewhat of a German trait overall (not in Cologne though, we love a bit of joyful chaos here).

Which made the constant back-and-forth, empty promises and gaslighting of Scholz in the last couple of months all the more infuriating and irritating. Slow is one thing, but slow AND unreliable is really bad.

You’re just not hearing about it.

I wonder where they’ve got shells from. Suisse didn’t want to send 'em…

I hope for them that we aren’t their only providers in shells, otherwise they have a little problem!

Footage of Russians laughing about a drone and then watching their oil refinery explode. In the words of Nelson (from the Simpsons) and our more illustrious @PeachesEnRegalia 'Haha"

part of the problem with Twitter updates is numerous accounts will post updates by plaigarizing someone else’s tweet without credit. So it’s quite easy to see the same information comes from two or three or sometimes four different accounts. When you’re scrolling through hundreds of updates over a 6-8hr timeframe like I do (and likely @MViper does as well) it’s easy to duplicate.

I simply haven’t had time today, because my customers are fucking stupid.

Sometimes same posts from different accounts happens. Trying to avoid it. My apologies in advance. I’m sure Semmy and other posters feels the same way.
