Sykyrski has been fired, and as the Ukrainian demonstrators were asking for, Drapatyi is replacing him.

He has been siding with Fedorov, when the later was dismissed, so this is pretty positive.

Have Ukraine commented on why Wildberries was targeted? Obviously it will be a logistics centre as well as a warehouse, but does it have a greater significance to the Russian military?

They prefer butchers?

Distribution of sanctioned components that find their way into Russian weapons. Apparently.

Wildberries was apparently handling quite a lot of logistics, and in addition to the function @wyld.at.hrt notes, Russian troops are supposedly self-supplying items like night vision kit through Wildberries.

The morale effect is obvious, most of those Moscow-area distribution centres are outside the main air defence perimeter but burn very well, sending up plumes of smoke that everyone in the city can see.

Syrskyi and Gerasimov on the Russian side are considered old school soviet doctrine, and butchers because of attrition tactics where humans are just part of a number’s game.

Another side-effect it that it fucks up a part of the Russian economy, though this is probably not the goal, but still can be considered useful by making consequences felt by the general population.

There’s an interesting article (in Russian, use your browser or another method to translate), discussing whether Wildberries can be considered legitimate targets, considering those are mainly civilian assets.
