That’s him, Glasner, Xabi, and very possibly Luis Enrique all available this summer, and easier to lock down than any of the international managers who clubs might have been interested in.
This feels like its shaping up to be a game of musical chairs with more managers positioning themselves for a big role than will be roles available
I’d rather we bring in someone with a trophy at a top league or top team. He has done very well at Bournemouth but like Brentford and Brighton is it the set up or is it him? If he was to go on and do well say at Bilbao then perhaps its one to consider.
Someone posted elsewhere that “Spanish side Athletic Club were also interested in making Iraola their next head coach, with Ernesto Valverde announcing his upcoming exit last month, but sources now regard that as unlikely.”
Possibly the wrong thread, but since there is talk about it…
I’m not sure Enrique would pick as his next project, looking at the question marks we have in some football positions above the pitch. Also depending on where we finish this season and what he might think about the squad.
He planned to work in England and started learning English a few years ago, but back then he didn’t like some of the projects that were on table. I think Spurs were one.
That was when his stock wasn’t as high as it’s since last season or so. So it’s likely that he will be able to be pretty picky about his next job.
I’m not saying no chance, but I think it’s far from easy to imagine Enrique taking over Liverpool this summer. We don’t even know if he will leave before his contract expires in 2027. When there could be more changes = more jobs available.
They are my second team, I know hes over performed but its just I would be wary after Slot by approaching another guy who has performed well at a reasonable level. I think Glasner’s drop off would ring similar warning issues in my head even though there are caveats applied.
Surprised that Burnley did not wait until the end of the season? Oh well, Burnley is relegated anyways, I guess there is no reason to prolong the partnership.
