I’ve just read that Wolves have sacked Rob Edwards. That’s a bit of a surprise I thought they had been playing OK under him until the very end of the season.

To be fair they had an Ok spell and beat us but they had reverted to being crap towards the end.

You would kind of expect that though wouldn’t you, after being at the bottom for most of the season. Morale and motivation would be at its lowest?
That is a surprise. They were doomed before he got the job, and I thought he was all about building back for next season.
Particularly odd given that they poached him away from Boro just over 6 months ago, and were in last place at the time.

I actually thought he had been there all season for some reason.
They had 2 points from 11 played when he took over! Already 8 points behind 17th, so one foot in the grave already, I assumed they were already thinking in terms of who could build them back up the following season.

That was largely the view of why they hired him…little expectation of avoiding the drop this season with how far behind they already were but a good pair of hands to manage the almost certain promotion push they would need this coming season.

Could it be because someone else they like better has come onto the market (McKenna perhaps?)

McKenna doesn’t sound like he wants to put his shoulder right to the wheel, and a bigger club in a lower league is a lateral move from Ipswich. I am not sure why he would even be interested in Wolves right now, particularly because even prior to this their ownership was developing a reputation of being somewhat flighty.

I wonder if he makes it out of November? He may be an excellent manager, but I believe that for a lot of foreign managers, a lower level PL team is actually a much easier first job in English football than a CH team competing for promotion. Both leagues present quite the range of tactical problems, but the key difference is that no one expects a bottom half team to solve the tactical problems posed by a CL team that keeps the ball well - when it happens, a single point is valued. By contrast, there are teams that play some really brutal football, very physical defences (and some mediocre playing surfaces) trying to scrap enough points to stay out of League 1. A couple of draws against those sides, and your campaign is off the rails.

The list of promoted ones is actually relatively small considering 3 have gone up since the 90s
Until you get into the last 5 years, Bar Nuno I don’t think a Portuguese coach has ever done it. Plenty of German and Eastern European coaches on the list mind.

Looks like Glasner is taking over Forest.
According to reports, Forest had a clause that allowed them to sack Periera upto 11.59pm on 31st June and they sent the email at 11.58
