Thanks. That’s a bit more than I could remember.
Hope to notch one more soon; the big bollocks Fwank.
Pogba?
Apparently Parker was told by the owner before the summer that they weren’t going to blow loads of money on transfers when they got to the Premiership,as they’d lost over £70mill getting relegated and they wanted to recoup those losses with promotion money,he was given over £25mill to spend (which he did) then came back asking for more and told no.
He then made that dispute public during the interview after the LFC game, which apparently went down like a shit sandwich to the Bournemouth board.
Parker probably did it on purpose to either get more funds or the sack, which will mean he’ll get paid up for the season, where if he didn’t like the situation, knowing they’ll get relegated with that team and just walked away,he’d get paid fuck all.
It’s the Rodgers approach - once you see you’re facing an uphill task, put more work into reputation protection than getting yourself up the hill.
I don’t understand the surprise here really. People here were rightly angry at Rodgers for the “tools” comment and understood it risked his job. That is the game Parker has been playing. Not only does it piss off your boss, it undermines the players you actually have at your disposal. Cut out the cancer ASAP, back the players you have and bring in someone who is going to focus on putting up a fight and getting what he can get out the players who are available.
Well said. But, a manager who goes public with complaints about the lack of financial backing in the transfer market has likely exhausted all internal avenues of trying to get the funds needed to improve the club. It’s basically the last resort - take your complaints to the press to try to place public pressure on your owners to open up their wallets.
I don’t envy a manager in Parker’s situation. He feels his club isn’t strong enough to stay up, but he doesn’t have the financial backing to change that. If they look like they’re headed down in a couple months, he’ll probably get the sack anyway. Going public, the week before the transfer deadline, is the only leverage he has at this point. It’s a calculated risk, and getting the sack now probably saves him a couple months of misery before inevitably getting the sack in October.
I’m even more cynical. There is little financial consequence for these guys for getting the sack if they’re under contract, and so managers can find themselves in a position where losing their job in their right way is a better career move than going down trying.
Maybe it was that cardigan. He was going on about the facilities in the summer. Bit of a fan mindset helps his previous boss was Tony Khan.
I’d have put him as a cast member from Thunderbirds. That cardy, combined with very little width across his shoulders puts him in prime shape I’d say.
With that Cardigan he could play Q
He left Blackpool last month and is now Stevie’s assistant at Villa.
He was head coach though so it’s not really his job to do that, particularly if they have a recruitment set up.
Ah right I wasn’t aware of that.
Probably why the odds are longer than I expected.
Probably why Villa doing so badly.
Scotty Parker is a rich young manager, and he is hardly cowering for a paycheck, so he will say his piece. Unfortunately it cost him his job, but it was probably a calculated move on his part as his reputation isn’t especially damaged by this.
My take is they made a decent start, winning at Aston Villa. Games against Arsenal, City and Liverpool are not how they will be measured. How they fare against mid to lower Prem opposition will determine whether or not they will scrape enough points to stay up.
Staying up would have been the goal.
Parker looked at it, and thought they didn’t have enough, so pressured the owners for more cash. Presumably they didn’t like that, as behind the scenes they already had an agreement for what could be spent for the season, and so they gave him the chop.
Bournemouth will go down.
Scotty Parker will get another job. If not in the lower reaches of the Prem, then at least as a High St. mannequin. Those cardigans!
He is a bit of a bang average manager of truth be told. Wins promotions with the teams that are expected.
He invented the quick goal from kick off tactic didnt you know. Before him teams thought they had to wait at least 30 seconds before they tried to score.
I think Mancini beat him to the cardigans though didn’t Arsene wear one once.
Talking of cardigans… Saw Pickfords wife taking him to Tesco yesterday :0)
Stevie commenting on Douglas expressed the gap between himself and the Villa board. Shades of Scott Parker. Might be the last straw for him there, but we’ll see.
