The Spursy Thread

You expected consistency Roo?

As consistent as lumpy custard

Sure. It’s to do with Levy’s attitude towards managers post Poch.

Any manager can come in and they’ll still be spursy.

Totally agree, hope Frank stays clear, he was one of the reasons I was happy to see Kelleher go to Brentford, who knows now?
Ange is a good manager,Levy needs to carry part the blame for where Spurs are.

Winning a one team league doesn’t make him the messiah he liked to promote himself as.
He’s on Brendan Rodgers level in the full of shit stakes.

I have a number of Celtic supporting mates who have him up on a pedestal.
Seriously?
I could take over Celtic tomorrow & win the treble, and get embarrassed by European clubs

I really hope that this won’t happen, I would feel very sorry for Kelleher

Kelleher would’ve been aware that Brentford is not a top tier club and changes are common. Regardless of Frank’s time there so far. He’s possibly reached a point where he feels he can’t maximize more out of their current possibilities. Up to discussion whether this Spurs is worth leaving that place, but if he wants, that’s it. It’s football and Kelleher I believe doesn’t give a damn who the head coach is, he wants to play and I believe whoever takes over Brentford, he will play.

Without Frank, they could quickly become relegation cannon fodder… and unfortunately, we all know whose goal will be peppered with goalbound shots every game..!

Frank has been linked with top jobs - including ours - for a couple seasons now. I doubt Kelleher - or his agent - were unaware of the possibility he may depart.

The way Brentford is set up it’s hardly going rely on the manager picking his players

Spurs though. What a Spursy mess. Levyism should be recognised as an extreme condition of some sorts, kinda like rabies.

I think Brentford are well run enough to appoint a good coach.

Are you saying when you’ve had Levy for as long as spurs then it’s terminal?

There is something I just can’t put my finger on but he sure looks like he has the experience to manage a wet tuesday night away at Sunderland.

I thought that Postecoglu would get a reprieve. It’s not the harshest sacking I’ve seen, but he won them a trophy and has secured a huge payday for next season’s CL. After all the injuries this season I think he deserved the benefit of the doubt, and if they continued to struggle, fair enough he would be gone by Christmas.

Still, it’s a clean slate and Levy made his move.

I like Thomas Frank and think he is a good manager. I don’t know that he can do much more at Brentford, so it might be the right time for him to move on.

With Spurs finishing so low down in the Prem, Frank stands to enjoy a nice honeymoon period with them. Even if they only manage to revert to the mean it should see them climbing the table.

Kelleher moved on for first team football and he should get that, even if Frank moves on. If Brentford slide down the table a bit, it’s all part and parcel of football. If they get relegated - I very much doubt it will come to that - then that need not be the end of the big time for Kelleher. Presumably if he faces lots of shots in a struggling team, he will make plenty of saves, which will catch the eye of other suitors. We are miles away from that though!

More that you froth at the mouth a bit.

Ultimately, it’ll be down to how stable things are behind the scenes. If they are well run like Brighton (they seemingly are), there is a good chance they can bring in a manager that fits the profile of the existing squad and can continue to build upon Frank’s foundation.

If they’re like Spurs, United, Southampton…they’re fucked. I hope its the former.

I like Frank - hope he doesn’t fuck it up. But the lure of CL football and likely an increase in income, with a crack at that job will be tempting I assume.

Yeah you are absolutely right… Not too bothered about Brentford per se, more that the new manager might not fancy having Kelleher in goal

It’s going to be Brentford’s loss if the incoming manager doesn’t fancy Kelleher.
