The Spursy Thread

What happened today/yesterday?

The Arse hijacked Eze from under their spursy nose.

So will they go for Wissa now?

The side of the game we don’t see.

Yeah the difference is he can afford to retire at 33 (or 25 or whatever) and continue to have all the best medical care; lots of bods doing hard physical jobs have to continue with the pain killers as the only option much longer term.

Anyone know what players are generally administered pre-match as a painkiller?

I think Pep did coke.

Pre game there isn’t much that is effective other than shots. The powerful pills tends to be more a post game/training thing

Yeah , but what is it ?

The shots? Lidocaine is a local anesthetic and torodol is an intramuscular nsaid that has much more powerful effects that oral versions like ibuprofen. Cortisone was popular back in the day but is now banned by WADA for in competition use so cannot be used in wada sanctioned events pre game

Both.

What piqued my interest was Lamela saying he’d been on a maximum dosage at the end and it got me wondering whether he was suffering physically or if he’d developed a psychological dependence.

I did some research and saw that WADA had banned strong opiates last year , presumably for precisely that reason.

Big news that Levy is departing, though there have been signs that this was on the horizon. I wonder if the club will be put up for sale.

This is huge news. Levy built the fans lovely state of the art stadium which will probably be his postive legacy, but he did set the club back by sacking good managers when he shouldn’t have, for example Pocchitino and Mourinho to name but a few.

Apparently Amanda Staveley is sniffing around trying to inject fiance but the Lewis family want to stay on.

He might want to put his portion up for sale. I believe he owns around 25%

He seems to have done alright out of his time there, according to the BBC:

The 63-year-old was the Premier League’s longest-serving chairman and earned an estimated £50m-plus during his time in charge

Prior to Levy they Yo-yo’ed from one crisis to another, the fan base didn’t seem to quite understand that the shiny stadium came with a cost yes he made mistakes but …

Pochettino seemed to have run his race at Spurs. While he did do a pretty good job , I think that was his limit. The club’s need/desire for a trophy was always going to be not something Poch would achieve.

Mou was always going to be a short term hire. As were people like Conte. Great coaches but not ones who the owners or the fanbase will tolerate too long.

Ironically , they got the trophy with probably the worst manager of the lot in Ange. But that says rather about how the Europa is devalued now.
