What’s the highest points he’s got to win a EPL? Mid 80s?

It might surprise you to learn that it is 95.

His first tenure at Chelsea was something else…

Personally don’t think he ever matched that anywhere else even on his return, that team was a great team.

His Porto win was another highlight for his career, I know he has won trophies since but football has moved on and as some say when they go behind they struggle.

He also did 100 points in Spain with Real. Very easy man to dislike but I do believe he knowingly behaves almost like a parody figure because watching him as a pundit was like watching a completely different person. Seems like he goes in character once he’s on a job and stays with that character even with his dealings with the club that he’s at which is why he also tends to have them self destruct in some way, shape or form.

His style of play now is not pleasing nor very likely to be profitable in the long run but thinking back I don’t think he was always playing such a style so it’s hard to pin point whether he has actually remained the same or perhaps even devolved his style of play.

That is s a surprise. I know he’s gotten 100 points with real madrid. But always thought mid 80’s was what he could realistically be getting at the max every season in the PL.

The thing with his style of playing is that he goes quickly to park the bus and hit on counter-attacks when facing the stronger teams. His teams can and do score a lot of goals against the weaker sides when they have a talent advantage. But against the stronger teams who love to play expressive football , It’s almost a case of park the bus and counter attack. Doesn’t really set him and his playing style apart from Pulis/Pardew/Allardyce and the likes of them

I honestly do my best not to watch Mourinho’s teams but I admit that Kane’s reinvention and Son’s constant improvement make me peek through my fingers. I can’t tell you just how much his side remind me of the way I played PES in 2008/09. I was so full of frustration induced by draws to Stoke, Fulham, Wigan, as well Macheda and Arshavin, that I made it my personal mission to take it out on my opponents, especially if they played with Liverpool’s rival. Since Liverpool were weaker on PES than in reality (and everybody else played with Man United, Barcelona and Real Madrid), my whole game plan revolved around flat back four, two defensive midfielders, two not-too-offensive wingers and getting it to Gerrard and Torres on the counter, effectively trying to get them into two vs. two or three vs. three situations (with Kuyt supporting), where they were really tough to defend against.

For “Gerrard and Torres”, read “Son and Kane”, obviously, everything else is virtually the same, only the fullbacks are a bit more offensive. I still can’t believe that Mourinho’s outdated approach has made them title candidates as I completely wrote them off when the season began. I do admire Son’s and Kane’s continued brilliance, the latter especially has finally turned into the complete striker he always looked capable of being, he’s like Firmino on steroids.

Mourinho plays percentages. He believes and rightly that you concede when you make a mistake. But moreso you make a mistake with the ball. He therefore doesn’t believe in ball possession. To him it’s about waiting for the error. Klopp is similar but will try snd force the error through a press.

But here’s where klopp ha evolved and it appears that Jose hasn’t. Klopp has recognised that a lot of the time you have to do both. Control the ball and force error when you dont have it.

I think the biggest issue is that a game plan based around being really tight at the back and taking what you can get on our limited forays forward is always going to come unstuck with a RB like Aurier. He is like a less likable version of Albie.

I wont disagree but his game is qholly based on it being easier to coach good defensive positioning rather than creative play.

I remember him saying something like 80% (I forget the true figure) of mistakes happen when you have the ball.

He’s right but I believe there are flaws in his approach to building s style of plsy round that statement.

Wrong thread but nonetheless.

Pffft, he can just take it to CAS who will find him guilty but reduce the sentence to a packet of crisps and two Mars Bars.

Well the Josie resurgence was short lived; he’s now cannibalising his own squad. You just do not say things like this publicly about a player. Likely destroyed what was left of his confidence, and said to every other interested club, he is now cheaper. Levy should give him a tug about this. Josie is a twat, truth be known. He’s cracked at losing to us and then to Leicester, so a once first team starter now squad player takes the shit.Actually, its bullying.

It’s almost as if players struggle to perform if they are repeatedly told they are shit by the manager.
