The Spursy Thread

Son and Kante are two players I regret not having in our team.

Looks like a few players failed their last chance shot today. Ndombele, Ali, Lo Celso, Gil all given a shot and were losing to a third tier morcombe until Conte rang the changes and brought them all off.

Lo Celso was a time-wasting substitute at the end, but otherwise, yes, that doesn’t look good on the other three.

It is really remarkable how completely Alli has collapsed as a talent. He was overhyped, but there was a real player there and probably one with considerable upside potential. It is hard to even pinpoint when it all went wrong, but his career arc has become one that probably has him dropping out of the PL in a year or two.

Kane’s first or second ankle injury? I think that led to Kane dropping deeper and taking the space he had been so effective in.

The penny dropped for me, and this is just my take on it. When he jokingly fipped the finger at a team mate (Walker?) whilst playing for England. He was booked by the ref who thought it was directed at him. But my point is that he shouldn’t be fecking about in a professional game especially an international match. From what I remember neither his international manager or his club manager slated him for it

So, if I understand correctly, Levy earlier had a offer for Traore at £20M rejected, so now he has gone back with a revised offer at £15M? Presumably, there are some altered payment terms or something, but at some point soon Wolves will be telling him to get stuffed, quite possibly with the player’s blessing.

His brother looks like that mad caveman from Parasite.

Spurs forums must be going into meltdown round about now. As must be the case with Conte right now as well.

I had a browse this morning as the news was breaking - from what I read most people were furious with Levy for pissing about with their transfers, rather than anger at missing out on Diaz per se (most quite honest that they’re not familiar enough with the player).

Heard they’ve agreed a deal to bring Ollie Tanner, a 19-year non league footballer. 15% sell on clause included.

Spursy. :joy:

Diaz already knew Liverpool were many levels above the spurs.

That foresight, building for future

So, with the January changes, we can split Spurs into exactly two possible XI’s:

Lloris
Romero Dier Davies
Emerson Bentancur Hojbjerg Reguilon
Kulusevski Kane Son

Gollini
Tanganga Sanchez Rodon
Doherty Skipp Winks Sessegnon
Moura Scarlett Bergwijn

The thing is, he didn’t want to join Spurs… :joy:

All clubs make signings that don’t work. Something seems really off at Spurs though that they could sign two so highly regarded players in Lo Celso and Ndombele and have them both be such complete busts.

I understood the excitement (similar to us when we signed Keita) over Ndombele, purely going by his style, didn’t know enough about his mentality and lack of work rate. He seemed like an almost complete CM, I expected Mourinho to bring the best out of him, maybe be his little Essien (now looking back, they’re quite the opposite in terms of mentality/work rate, Ndombele is also or sees himself more creative). Turns out that it was indeed his “best” season for Spurs under Jose, but there’s no doubt that the signing didn’t work out.

But never really liked Celso to be honest. I think he’s back where he belongs at a place like Villarreal. I don’t see him being a player for the top level, possibly not even for the level that needs to threaten the top level. He might eternally variate between that level and the next even lower level, which Villarreal are, Betis were, etc. Maybe he earns a new “Tottenham” chance and does better next time. But I was never convinced by him.

Never understood the hype around Conte.

IMO he is already working on his payout with crying and moaning in every press conference about his squad and the mistakes Spurs have done in the past.

100% sure he won’t be in charge by this time next year.
