The Spursy Thread

Not a fan of Conte’s style, but I think he’s effective. What I do believe is that he was given certain assurances about the level of backing in the market and Spurs have just been Spurs. While he was naive to think Spurs wouldn’t be Spurs, you can see why he’s frustrated.

I like Conte. He’s quite a character and one of the few who has a vision of how he wants to play football and sticks to it.

He can be overly pragmatic at times but when his team is in sync , they can produce quite attractive football.

Levy was prepared to spend the money on Diaz, but he just didn’t want to go to Spurs. Possibly because his agent was aware Liverpool were about to make an offer.

Assume they look at a 8-9pm kick off

Looking at a Spurs forum, I couldn’t find a single post in favour of this…

I thought it was interesting the way they broke it down into age groups and I dont know what to make of it being among the younger groups to not know of any negative connotation and think it’s simply a word that refers to being a Spurs fan.

Does seem odd, as it was only a few years ago it got a lot of media coverage.

Looking at the thread on the Fighting Cock, it appears that they consider the chant of Y… Army as the opposite of racist i.e. being proud of their jewish connection and proclaiming it.

Lot of hate on there for David Baddiel, a Chelsea fan, who has been instrumental in lobbying for the ban.

Isn’t Baddiel a Spurs fan?

I always thought the reason he was always so against the chant was that he was a Spurs fan

No, I am fairly sure he is a Chelsea fan - his motivation appeared to spring from hearing the horrific ‘Spurs are on their way to Auschwitz’ and ‘Yids’ variations thereof that his fellow Chelsea fans were chanting about 10 years ago.

never knew that, but would make sense

Yeah, that’s the genesis of it. They were on the end of anti-semitic abuse for the Jewish connection and so the fanbase responded by saying “yeah, so what.” It’s very similar to the idea of black people reclaiming the N word, but with the important difference is it is a majority non-Jewish group deciding it is fine to use the word in a positive sense while actual Jews were saying “please don’t”.

If Jewish groups are saying I like the fact you feel it’s taking a stand against those who are racist towards us but please can you not use it then so be it, that should be the end of it.

No, definitely Chelsea fan

Spurs were 7th in the Premier League with 3 games in hand over Arsenal.

They’ve played the 3 games in hand and are now 8th. :joy:

Needless to say, but I’ll say it anyway.
So spursy.

I think they’ll turn the corner in their next match. Everything is going to click into place. I’m pretty sure they’re going to smash their next opponent into smithereens!

I had to check who they were playing

Spurs fan David Baddiel, actually being a Chelsea fan, is quite Spursy come to think of it!

As for Spurs themselves, I thought they would finish fourth once Conte came in. I expected he would tighten them up and make them very tough to beat, while Kane, Son, Moura would get enough goals to nab fourth spot.

Now I’m not so sure at all. They are dropping too many points, and none of the candidates are making a convincing case for finishing fourth.

Hopefully Conte decides to leave, as if he is properly backed, and stops his cry-arsing a bit, they could become a force.
