The Spursy Thread

Aye, I think that contract priced him out of a move to Bayern. You could see them paying Lewondowski type salary but it would require them getting him on the cheap or free. They’re not going to pump 100 million to get him, at that age, and then still pay him that money.

I really think he’s got himself into a situation where City is the only move that ticks all the boxes - the money to acquire him, the need, not being in the Haaland or Mbappe races, and not being worse than Spurs (Utd).

Spurs don’t have the BOTTLE to finish top 4.

And he can write the ‘feem toon’ and sing the ‘feem toon’.

Seriously though, how would he communicatevwith the other players? They probably only talk their native languages, German and English. How would they understand Kane?

Probably an interpreter will be part of the deal

Annoyingly, Conte has actually done really well with Spurs. They were 9th when he took over and I think it’s a pretty reasonable shout to claim they ended the season as the third best side. With a good summer he could make them pretty formidable. I dont know how much money they’ll have though and Im pretty sure a substantial portion of it will already be committed to making Kulusevski’s move permanent.

ENIC just announced that they’re injecting £150m into the club.

I always a bit cautious about half term seasons. It is interesting to see what happens going forward with them and Newcastle.

Yeah, I understand that. But given its Cone I think you have to take it a bit more seriously than you might otherwise

So is that it? Is it just open season for outside spending now?

Not really let’s see anyhow, I do think they will remain tough though, more teams who try is a good thing.

On the positive side, an improved Spurs cannot make us drop too many more points of us next season that they did this year. On the negative side, it cannot do anything to make City’s tally any worse.

Was that announcement proceeded by an announcement from Conte that if he doesn’t get £150m to spend he’s throwing all his toys out of the pram?

I was similarly confused as to how they could do this, but there’s a bit of a breakdown of it on The Athletic today.

Essentially they have massive FFP headroom, due to low wages comparative to the rest of the ‘big 6’, and they tend to recoup much of what they spend through player sales.

Yeah Spurs worry me a bit if I’m honest. Conte can quickly turn a middling side into league winners with one or two windows to operate in. Thankfully, Levy is a complete twat and won’t do what’s needed to bring in the players needed to make this happen, but I can see Spurs edging closer to the top next season and going on a cup run or two.

Conte only survives for two seasons at the max.

I’m not really worried about them as long as there’s another team who can take points off Man City besides us every season.

As the recent seasons have vividly demonstrated, there’s just two ways to win the PL; bucket loads of filthy money (backed up by a horde of fiendish lawyers) or an out of the world manager leading a squad of Mentality Monsters. Spurs doesn’t fall in either category.
