The Spursy Thread

Yeah, I think they’d rather look for someone new than going back for Poch.

Personally, I’d like to see Enrique in England soon. He expressed a wish, is learning English and has showed quality.

For Zerbi, it looks a bit too early for him to leave Brighton. They can still accomplish things this season, there will be money to spend this summer. I don’t think he’s in a rush.

Nagelsmann makes sense. A big club, but not such a pressure to win immediately, a proactive flexible coach who could possibly try and build something new even if they sell Kane.

You have to feel sorry* for any manager daft enough to plunge into that shithole… ok, he’ll receive quite a bit of money to make the plunge, but still…

I think that would be a mistake for Nagelsmann, but he is at an odd point in his career - not sure where he would go.

He could wait longer for a side better prepared to win, but it’s not like I don’t see why Spurs would attract someone like him at this point. He’s young, had 3 clubs in the Bundesliga, won a title with Bayern. It’s okay if his next club is not necessarily Real or City.

Spurs would not be a bad level of club for him, agreed. I just think after the brutal experience of Bayern’s expectations, going to a penny-wise, pound-foolish organization like Spurs with expectations completely out of alignment with resources is actually a massive career risk for him. He will hit the same frustrations that Conte did, and doesn’t have the same CV to fall back on. My sense is that if he goes there, he ends up as this decade’s AVB - up and coming young superstar manager to washed-up journeyman without an intervening period of real success.

Spurs is a club where you can get paid and not hurt your future job prospects if you fail to win stuff because no one expects anyone to actually win there. The only reason Nagelsmann may reject them is if he other opportunities in the short term he’d prefer. The challenge for Spurs is that any in demand manager is likely to want to bide his time waiting to see if the Chelsea or PSG jobs come up this summer. Hell, or even the Real one.

Permanent managers since last league title:

Man City - 0
Liverpool - 0
Arsenal - 2
Chelsea - 4
Man United - 5
Tottenham 36.

Please :joy:

I disagree. Tactics Timmy would be a great Spurs appointment - for the rest of us.

Have said it here many times, Harry Kane is the biggest cheat in the PL.

Nope. The biggest is Fraudiola.
Unless you’re refering just to players.

I’ve had this piece open for a while and finally got around to reading it this morning, and it’s a really weird take

It makes an argument for how Spurs should be shamed for their refusal to face up to the problems of appointing Paratici and then allowing him to continue as long as they did. But they position it as a case of Spurs reputation being ruined by it, as if things that should shame clubs actually sticking. Did the writer wake up from a coma he went into in 1960?

Spurs need to keep Babyface Mason on the touchline. No need for a new manager.
