Will be sad to see if the club has fallen that much that a manager of the calibre of Gerrard is handed the reigns.
I think Gerard himself has realised there would never be a place for him in the Anfield hotseat under FSG, or any other fair minded owner that wanted a winning manager in place…
However, if the Arabs buy the club at some future point… then Gerard would no doubt slip in the back door by default, due to him embracing everything that has a whiff of Camel shit about them.!
Hence the photograph… he may even be lining up Hendo as his number two
It would cease to be of interest to me
The hypocrisy would be to say you are not conflicted. I am totally conflicted with Gerrard.
He is a long time gone from Liverpool
He wasn’t a vociferous advocate for the LGBTQA+ community.
Hendo tarnished his reputation, badly.
For some (probably senseless) reason I don’t think Gerrard did.
Still love Gerrard the player.
Gerrard the manager is nowhere near the level we should aim at once Jürgen decides to leave. If we are thinking of the Liverpool connection then it can only be Xabi Alonso.
First of all I would like to say it is very unlikely that Gerrard will ever manage our club unless it is for a charity game.
However, any young manager has a chance to improve and Klopp might not have been the right manager for us if he joined directly from Mainz.
Sorry… it just grates me a bit when every young manager is written off so quickly.
Agree in general. Disagree in Gerrard.
He’s never been the most personable of people. He’s never struck me to have the charisma that someone like Jürgen has always had. I’m not saying he can’t become more tactically astute but that X factor that separates the great managers from the good…he doesn’t have it. No amount of experience will create that.
Yes… Gerrard has his faults. Hence very unlikely he could make it as a Liverpool manager. Just pointing out how quickly young managers are written off if they don’t succeed very early in their career.
There still is the chance that Gerrard will find his Ayesteran. Unlikely, but I feel Pako was the balance thay helped us succeed under Benitez due to his ability to compensate for his faults.
The best managers replaced their deputies efficiently when they couldn’t work with them anymore even when it meant they had to change their style of play.
The case with Klopp , Fergy and probably Pep as well.
Albeit , Ferguson’s football is boring counter attack with superior personnel and that IS the United way.
Loved him as a player and what he did for Liverpool.
He did do well as a manager with Rangers. What he’s done there is no joke fwiw. But he was out of his depth at Aston Villa probably due to not having tactical knowledge. Overall should have stuck to Rangers.
As a human being , I don’t particularly rate him highly. He talked the politically correct talk about LGBTQ etc while boss at Aston Villa but it’s clear it’s lip service. His connections to organized crime heads also needs to be be gotten into the equation.
For me , I think both him and Henderson need to be kept at arms length. Respect them for what they’ve done for the club’s and they were professionals (mostly) during their time. But that doesn’t mean that their true colours don’t come out when an insane amount of money is thrown at them
It took me a LONG time to come back around with Souness after his managerial failure here and the mistakes he made, but it happened.
That leaves the door open for Stevie to eventually be remembered solely for the things he did wearing our shirt, but I also think there was a lot more complexity to that time for him than there was for Souey. Even accounting for my more childlike perspective of Souness than the older and more cynical outlook I had by the time Gerrard was playing.
Souness got paid off the rag for giving an interview… That could come into the pros and cons also
Yes, more than his results that was one of his mistakes I mentioned that made the path back so long.
Wanker
Okay look we don’t like the Saudis for their regime and their blatant lack of human rights.
But what’s Stevie supposed to do when they ask him to don their traditional garb?
Would you call him a wanker had he been playing for Bayern Munich and put on a pair of lederhosen during Oktoberfest?
“Would you have reacted differently to a completely different situation?”
What is the answer to that question supposed to reveal?
WANKER!!!
Wanker
Duh of course…Bayern
Don’t really mind if he dresses up.
Don’t want him ever to be manager here, simply because I think he’s championship level at best.
