Yeah having a cellar is big in Adelaide and most old homes have one underground. I can’t stand the modern twist which is to have a glass ‘cellar’ adjacent the informal dining/living - so posey.

I have a wine cellar in our basement. Small room, terracotta flooring, perfect temp, the wine is stored horizontally on racks, two layers deep.
I probably have about 100 bottles down there, and the capacity is small compared to loads you see, I think 144 bottles. We could triple it by storing wine on the other two walls but just the back wall is more than enough.
We’ve been in various wine clubs over the years and if we find something we really like we might get a case.
It’s a bit of a hobby too, stemming back from living in the UK and traveling a bit more and developing a taste for certain things.
