Ironic because the opposite is true. The same people who get offended by someone’s choice of pronouns are those who cry about losing ‘our Christian country’
Not sure why people get so worked up about Happy Holidays.
Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus, but he was actually born in July/August, so not sure why 25th December has become ‘their’ day, other than it was actually a pagan holiday linked to the winter solist which the Catholic Church stole.
In the ‘holiday’ period, from end of November to January, there are a number of various holidays celbrated by various religions and faiths, so by saying Happy Holidays, you are acknowledging that it is an important time of year for all faiths and beliefs - not sure how that is a bad thing personally
The significance one might attribute to Jesus will vary, but he definitely existed. His followers curated lots of evidence and wrote down eye witness accounts that would come to be compiled as the New Testament, in just the same way that followers of other historic figures in antiquity wrote down accounts too. It is remarkable that this happened for someone born in poverty in an obscure place.
Even if the thousands of pieces of Biblical evidence were to be dismissed out of hand, as it is the work of insiders/followers, the article above does a decent job of introducing extra-Biblical evidence for the existence of Jesus.
(I won’t write another post on this subject as this is the joke thread, and we have a religion thread somewhere).
The date of Jesus’ birth is not known. People try to make a case for this or that, but it is not known. Dec 25 was probably chosen as a convenient time to mark the occasion, piggy backing on the Roman holiday of Saturnalia, which itself piggy backed on the even older celebration of the winter solstice.
