And that sir is pretty much my mantra.
But the joke is always that of those 1%, 99% are being offended on another person’s behalf.
Inspired by the conversation in the Breaking News Thread…
WARNING: these jokes are NSFS (not suitable for snowflakes)
What do you do if an epileptic has a fit in the bath?
Throw in your laundry.
What do you call seven epileptics individually wrapped in tin foil?
A packet of Wrigglies.
TBH, what makes that funny, is the idea that you still do your washing in the bath. I’m just trying to work out how to get an epileptic to substitute for a mangle.
Shows how old that joke is!
Someone will no doubt be offended on behalf of an epileptic sufferer, even though the sufferer will most probably laugh at it.
yeah, nah…
its nearly 2025…these ‘jokes’ are a bit on the nose…
im not sure where the line is, but im pretty sure this is over it…
im no snowflake, or hyper insulted…i just dont like that shit joke about someone with epilepsy
edit, for clarity, im the one who has reported it to the mods…and no, im not going to go back and sift through posts to find other ones just as offensive and crass…
it was me.
no, i didnt.
no, of course i realise it was intended as a joke, the thread title kinda gives that away…
Despite the warning, i still found it offensive.
maybe theres an epilepsy sufferer on here thats not offended by that kind of comment, and whilst im not personally a sufferer of epilepsy, i KNOW it would cause offence.
thats where im at, ive reported it, if the mods are OK with that kind of thing being on thier site with some disclaimer infront of it, thats up to them…
personally, i dont think it passes the ‘pub’ test
The great Ricky Gervais - “just because you are offended doesn’t mean you are right”. It’s a joke thread.
hence reporting it and leaving it up to the mods.
im sure RG himself didnt make the comment to absolve anyone, anywhere from saying offensive things without some form of responsibility… theres a scene in the original office where he tells the joke about the bread basket…now, Gervais has either absolutely changed his stance (possibility) or theres a suttlety to his point about being offended etc that people are trying to not understand.
anyway…i digress…ive stated why ive reported it, im trying to not sidetrack the thread…lets just see what the Mods decide to do
Ban.
@cynicaloldgit , I think from next time onwards you continue to put a disclaimer but put the rest of your post with ‘Hidden Details/Text’ option.
If someone still goes ahead with looking at the hidden content then its their problem.
Fuck that.
If people are offended by jokes, that’s their problem.
Thats the problem with posting jokes online. In real life you can tell someone to F off when he tells a joke that annoys you and in 99,9% the case is settled this way without bad blood.
maybe…and you are correct in stating i do have a problem with it…100%…its my problem…
also…maybe smashing out jokes about something as serious as epilepsy and throwing clothes at someone having a fit in a bath, and somehow thinking that passes as humour in 2024 and not rethinking what your doing when pointed out, might just be YOUR problem as well…
this is not a censorship issue in the main, its an issue with making fun of something pretty fecking serious…
also…no hard feelings to COG over this…i know the grammar thing is a bit of a forum joke, but we all have a laugh about COG being offended by bad grammar, i dont mind playing along, but why does shit hit the fan when a post is reported for something as serious as a joke about epilepsy…
.whatever the mods decide to do is the mods call, and ill abide by it…
be nice if we could play nice after though…
nah, that works for spoilers…offensive content is offensive content, whether you have to click an icon or not…its still on THIS forum…
for example, and to take it to the extreme…think of the most vile thing you could say, now if you purely just hide it behind a link…is that really still acceptable?
