The thread for those Vile Cheats Manchester City. Who cheated

A central part of the independent commission’s ruling found that Man City had overstated their sponsorship income by more than £830m across nine seasons, owing to Abu Dhabi United Group - the club’s owners - topping up genuine income from commercial partners.

In their findings, the commission found this started small in 2009/10, supplementing the real tally by £22.5m, but soon ballooned to more than £100m by 2012/13, on the back of their first Premier League title.

I wondered if Der Spiegel had anything to add, but it is just a statement of facts at the moment.

Man Cheaty was informed by the Premier League in July that they was found guilty,so proceeded to spend £526 Million this summer knowing a transfer ban was coming…You can’t make this shit up,story by Melissa Reddy :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

Loved the PL statement.

Repeated used the word “Sham”, not acting in good faith, general tone (worst offence in PL history).

The strength of that statement means the PL lawyers (who would have gone over it with a fine tooth comb) are 100% confident that there is no coming back from this.

I would not be surprised if it was as bitter and nasty as it got with UEFA and CAS. This statement is a massive fuck you.

Yep, I read that. Cheaters keep on cheating. Scumbags, the lot of them. If/when City gets banned, the PL should add a rule that light blue cannot be used in PL team kits, ever. The sight of that color sickens me now.

This is a serious question, but can sanctions keep being added if they continue to refuse to admit guilt or accuse the process of acting in bad faith. Soriano accused the Premier League of conspiracy today.

I’m just wondering because Sky Sports posted this video

Thats referred to as an ‘aggravating factor’ for the outcome, so they can intensify the remedies. Which if I have right, you mean they continue to not accept the judgement. Yes the Arbitrator will lump it on for that, as with obstruction, flagrancy and tax avoidance. It could not be any worse for them. Their entire position is thoroughly contemptuous of the rule of law.

Do the companies, that engaged in these “sham” contracts, come under scrutiny as well? Is there an entity that goes after them? Or were these companies also “shams”, created by the City owner group?

It has been verified, and the wording matches his statement 100%. It is safe to assume it was released that way; if it is AI-generated, then that is how it came from City.

Yep everything about City’s public statements and conduct are being done in tremendous bad faith.

In all but one charge CAS found that UEFA were either barred from bringing charges from that far back, or they had failed to make their case on their other. The one guilty charge though is the crux of the story that contextualized those other verdicts - they found city guitly of procedural non-cooperation. They said City had showed blatant disregard for the investigation in their failure to cooperate, including refusing to turn over evidence. IOW, for the charges that werent timebared, everyone acknowledged there was missing evidence City simply refused to turn over.

Long story short, UEFA felt under the gun and rushed togther the base case they could in the time they had but without a strategy for their lack of powers to make city comply. Pretty much every legal analysis I have seen of the Prem’s case is that its the same case but prosecuted with powers to make city comply with requests for discovery, without the same timeline pressure (no issue with being time-barred in PL rules), and with the super secret weapon of having good faith clauses in the prem charter that if city violate as a legal strategy will result in just as severe punishment as if they are found guilty of the core charges.

I dont know if they conducting themselves like this because they’ve gone too far to go back, if they are just trying to muddy the public perception in the hope that a PR win can lesson the punishment, or something else. But I am absolutely confident they dont actually believe they have an actual legal defense here.

Crucially, the CAS decision has been almost universally panned in legal circles. Quite simply, the 2 of the 3 judges that found the charges time barred were wrong.
