I was reading a rebuttal from a big city account that was getting arsey that people keep misrepresenting what City did (i.e. making it worse than it was). It was very much from a “oh, so it;s illegal for a business owner to put their own money into a business now is it?” angle that seemingly willingly misunderstands what has happened and why it is bad.
But the kicker was, for the guy complaining that everyone is misrepresenting what City did, he said “at least they didnt bribe refs like Juve did.” Note, Calcipoli was not actually about buying or bribing refs. It was merely about Juve being able to exert influence on the choice of officials for their games to avoid refs they believed were not fair to them.
Yeah, that fucking shithouse has managed to slither out the door at the right time. Along with his fucking worthless medals.
It always saddened me he was able to get away with his gobshite behaviour at Anfield because none of our players had the backbone to do him. In the 70s and 80s he’d have spent a few nights in Walton hospital.
There may not be relegation clauses, but any agent representing someone that has signed for them in the last 18-24 months that didn’t insert some clause reguarding the finding of these breaches has done a pisspoor job.
@Kopstar might be better able to answer this, but could this be a case of City being in some sort of breach of contract that null and voids any contracts in terms of being able to get transfer fees for players that leave?
The employment status has an odd relationship with a player’s registration. Players could certainly argue that City are in breach of their mutual trust and confidence obligations (which would allow the player to terminate their employment) but releasing their registration is a bit more challenging as it wouldn’t automatically follow.
Add:
Fifa have made the release of a player’s registration a bit easier though, to stop clubs from blocking a player’s next move
You have to bear in mind that this is the same fanbase that believes getting off a guilty verdict on a technicality due to the statute of limitations having passed is the same thing as being proven innocent.
They are masters at this kind of alternative reality.
I have a question, relating to the points of potential compensation.
Through their sham (c)Premier League sponsorship deals, they have undoubtedly inflated the baseline for sponsorship in football. Are we going to get Standard Chartered, Snapdragon, American Express, AIA etc suing City for making them pay more for those more contracts than they would have?
Just like the fence receiving the stolen diamonds won’t know where they’ve originated. They will still be prosecuted for receiving stolen goods; players have moral culpability as a minimum and many may also have taxation problems.
He’s also a confirmed racist and singer of songs laughing at Sean Cox’s TBI. There would be no condolences from me were anything bad to befall Bernardo the little rat.
