The TV Thread redux

Yeah, one would expect a guy named Magnus to be looking for that version of Warhammer universe.

Looking at how Amazon handled the adaptation of Foundation and The Expanse, I’m quietly confident about all of this. Thing is, Games Workshop are difficult to deal with when it comes to their intellectual property, so I assume that they wouldn’t have signed off on a deal with Amazon if they hadn’t been sure that Amazon would respect their creative vision and guidelines.

I guess that it will focus, in the beginning at least, on Ultramarines and their story revolving around Horus Heresy but I’d love to see the exploration of other legions, especially the conflict between Space Wolves and Thousand Sons (with focus on Magnus’ story). The universe is huge, though, the planning could take months, let alone filming.

Exactly. Games Workshop would not have signed this off without agreement from Amazon that they have significant control over the content. The deal would have been agreed a year ago if they were not stubborn on this point.

They’ve also given up a fair whack of their commercial rights to get the deal done - something they otherwise wouldn’t agree to unless they were certain that the content would be faithful to the source material.

I can imagine this is the first show or movie, with Cavill in the lead as it is rumoured that this is the story that Games Workshop have been taking to film companies since they started trying to break into this medium.

Have you read the book? Absolutely one of my favourites. It will be difficult to transfer that kind of lyricism to the screen.
Fingers crossed in trepidation.

Tulsa King, now half way through S2. Excellent stuff

Yeah. I read it after the disaster that was Cloud Atlas and saw talk about the ā€œmost unadaptableā€ books with this getting a lot of mentions in that debate. I don’t have much vision for this stuff so for me any adaptation that isnt just a Watchman style frame by frame remake of the book a work of vision that I cannot comprehend, so I don’t necessarily understand those arguments. But it’s also clear there is a LOT of room for this to go wrong.

Fingers crossed. I am currently watching Black Doves on Netflix and it’s pretty disappointing, so hoping the next one I get to is better.

Hands up if you played a character called Aureliano in a Netflix Series:

Just done likewise. Absolutely loved it.

I’m not sure where to put this, but it looks like Kelly Cates will be the new Match Of The Day presenter alongside Gabby Logan and Mark Chapman.

Excellent choice, if true, as she is one of the few Sky presenters that doesn’t leave me wanting to throw things at the telly.

Seriously? Would anyone really recognise him now?

This was really shit. A stylish spy ā€œthrillerā€ for people with no style

Up next is Say Nothing, a multi generational story about the Troubles in NI. It is an adaptation of Patrick Radden Keefs acclaimed book and, at least in the US, is receiving absolutely rave reviews.

Was planning to avoid anyway, I’m not a fan of Keira Nightley. I think she was great in the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie, I just don’t think I can warm to her in anything else.

Black Doves, classed as the Netflix version of Slow Horses…!!
It was more slapstick than serious, and that Grey Overcoat Reed (Sarah Lancashire), was wearing all the time, was a better actor than her…!
Second Season already in the planning stage though

They have great data on what works for them, but the things they deem a success for them are very often complete junk. It’s a travesty this is getting a second season but Kaos isn’t, but that’s pretty consistent with shit like Night Agent being a huge hit for them

I’ve never really understood the popularity of Sarah Lancashire…?

Imagine me trying to explain to Mexican friends that Raquel is what passed for a sex symbol on British soaps

You would have to state it was 25kgs ago… either that, or her Grey Overcoat had a load of padding…!

I don’t really know her from anything other than Happy Valley, but that was magnificent.

Watched the first episode of La Brea, enjoyed it.

Yeah, i havent seen that yet, and to be fair it has recieved a lot of praise as she has for her performance.

My comments are more her career before this starting with her stint on Coronation Street as @Limiescouse mentioned above.
