I think that’s the one that Alistair Campbell and Baroness Warsi have been making. It might be quite interesting.
Guaranteed to end up with a better candidate than Liz Truss though.
On second thought maybe they’re onto something there.
Truss is a ridiculously low bar, mind.
Is lady hulk any good or is it as cringy as I think it is? I dont want to hurt my eyes, they need a break so someone help me out.
One man’s poison is another man’s meat.
Watch it and form your own opinion. I thought it was okay, not great but fairly amusing, but I’m not you.
I remember quite distinctly in another thread saying that I am probably the younger version of you.
On first look I think it’s kind of odd that so much of the new phase of the Marvel universe, something that has dominated the box office for over a decade, is being delivered through tv. These are not standalone stories, but part of the overall narrative of the bigger story they are trying to tell. But once you understand that at the corporate level, the number 1 priority for Disney for the next 12 months is to increase their subscription numbers on their streaming service, it makes sense that they’d use their most reliable franchise to deliver subscribers. I think it’s annoying as someone who watches the films but isnt exactly the demo they’re going for (how do I watch Dr Strange 2 without having committed 10 hours to fucking Wandavision?), but I understand a more committed fan would enjoy a more drawn out Marvel experience with these shows. I will be interesting to see if they can hit their numbers, and if that does for them what they expect it will, without it negatively affecting the brand or frustrating the fans.
Completely unrelated, the popularity of this show and the availability of the She Hulk filter has resulted a bunch of great photos being posted by my favorite female weightlifter, the Canadian Forklift Jessica Beuttner. And for that Im grateful for the show.
It’s dreadful to the point of being laugh at funny. Worth it just to see how badly a show can be produced. Disney check-list:
- Woman being brilliant at everything and shouting at a man repeatedly.
Why do you need 2?
We’ve enjoyed it so far despite a couple of extremely cringey moments. It doesn’t yet seem to have an overall point though like the other series, it’s more like a straight up sitcom which just happens to take place in the Marvel universe, at least so far. It’s also very self-aware with fourth-wall breaks. If you are an incel you are guaranteed not to like it.
Just finished Better Call Saul.
It’s been a great series with wonderful acting and writing.
The last three or four episodes were a waste of time though.
I just can’t help myself. It’s one of those shows that once i start watching, i dont want to stop.
Took me one and a half episodes but now I’m enjoying Rings of Power and I’m looking forward to see how all the plots will eventually get together while at House of the Dragon I’m not seeing much of a plot and find all characters boring and predictable.
Odd, I’m the exact opposite. I find rings to be boring, plodding and lead by a hateful Galadriel. The great thing is that to all who throw the ist/phobe insults, Disa is the best and most likeable character. But all the travelling short scruffy people are Irish? The bad lads are from Manchester and all the Dwarves are scottish? No racial stereotyping there, no sir.
Dragons is smart, fast moving, well written, vaguely logical and lead by Matt Smith. What’s not to love? Paddy C is superb as King although we know his days are numbered. Bit too obvious that one, has to be said. Did we show you he cut himself on the throne 6 times? We’ll show you again just to be sure.
I don’t think Ireland, Scotland or Manchester exist in Middle Earth.
I watched Kim’s Convenience based on the rave reviews on here and gave up pretty quickly as my amusement at racial stereotyping is limited.
Then you definitely won’t like Fresh Off The Boat
To be fair, neither did Eddie Huang
I’m sure i don’t need to tell you Tolkien based a lot of his written world, characters and races on personal experiences, reading, mythology and stereotypes.
If you take offence by racial stereotyping in the tv show then surely you’d slaughter Tolkien for the original books for who and why he based the characters/races on.
I’m not taking offence, just pointing out the obvious.
After the first 4 episodes of Rings of Power, I think I’ve concluded it’s totally watchable, but really just an ok, average TV show with a massive budget/production value and a huge name attached to it. Acting and dialogue still not working for me.
