The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

I genuinely thought people were talking about Kaide Gordon, my brain is so much in denial about Anthony Gordon being a possibility for us.

Just a thought…

Especially last two years felt like we have one mighty decision maker in Klopp. He wanted a player. Called the owners and they told him if financially possible or not.

Now with the new hierarchy (Slot, Hughes, Marques, Ward, Edwards) I’m sure there will be lots of discussions between them before making a decision and then taking it to the owners.

Unlike Klopp the new guys are not ā€˜untouchable’. Wrong decisions will fall back on whoever came up with the idea.

Neh, they were talking about Flesh Gordon.

I’m not sure that everyone in the hierarchy will weigh in on an LFC transfer, as some of the ones listed are for the wider group, in anticipation of being a multi-club organization.

We don’t know for sure, but I would imagine the chain of command for an LFC signing will include Slot, Hughes, and maybe a sign off from Edwards. Obviously the stattos and the scouts will have weighed in, so we have a selection of possible options.

As for going to the owners for the budget to buy a player, I suspect it won’t work like that. The financial parameters will have already been set, and the team the owners have hired will work within those parameters to get the players they see fit.

If an opportunity comes along that would be outside the preset financial parameters, I would imagine it would need a green light from the owners, but they will be hands off, apart from setting the budget parameters.

I’m thinking PSG. Or maybe Atletico?

Maybe it’s interest from some journalists head.

Doak being linked with a loan move to a couple of PL sides likely battling relegation. Personally I think I’d rather he followed the same route as Elliot and had a whole season tearing it up in the Championship, though that level of interest obviously shows how highly thought of he is.

Good luck to Doak. He’s a talent and he needs to play, so we know how big of a talent he is. Maybe he comes back and bosses it at Liverpool? Or maybe he develops and is sold as he isn’t quite up to our first team level?

Good luck to him while we find out.

Interesting phrasing. ā€œNot actively looking to move him onā€ isn’t as emphatic as ā€œnot for saleā€. Hints at it being something they’d be open to at the right price.

I think the fact that a bids been placed and that we’ve heard about it from Pearce probably indicates the club are willing to move him on at the right price.

I wouldn’t. For what it’s worth. At least not until we’ve got a sure thing coming in his role.

I like and respect Endo (and I’m a sucker for a feelgood story) but in my eyes he’s a symbol of a disjointed transfer policy that left us lagging behind our strongest rivals. He did well once he got accustomed to the league but you just have to compare him to what Man City and Arsenal have in that position to see that it is the position that needs strengthening the most. He’s a pretty good squad player to have but he’s not a starter in a team that wants to win PL.

Nah. We’d have won the league last season with fair referring.

I’d certainly say positionally the DM spot is where we’ were comfortably third in terms of what was available to the three teams going for title last season.

We know he wasn’t our top choice or anything more than a stop gap. Did a good job, seems a nice lad and would be good to keep around as an option. But, if we’re shopping for a new DM then I think either he gets sold or Bajcetic gets loaned.

If we can get a decent return on what we paid and we’re confident Bajcetic’s injury issues are behind him then there’s some sense in letting him move on.

Im sure @Nikola wasn’t talking about league position but more about strange squad decisions like bringing in Nunez, Gravenberch, Endo…
All done after Edwards and Ward decided to leave.

Given some of the refereeing decisions we saw and the number of goalscoring opportunities we had but failed to put away, i would somewhat disagree with this. He might not be a nailed on starter but we werent that far off winning the league.

On that basis you’d expect Bajectic to play every game and that’s not a great idea.

I like Endo. Solid citizen.

However… (and I hate that, but it’s the truth)

He is not elite. We have lots of young midfielders who need minutes to grow. Some of them will surpass Endo.

But if we are letting him go, it makes me think we are in for a 6 who will play more often than not, and give us balance and protection in that midfield.

Could be wrong, but that’s what it looks like to me.

Also feels like a signing Edwards, and presumably Hughes given their reportedly close ideas about football, wouldn’t have sanctioned. So moving Endo on to replace him with ā€œtheirā€ guy seems logical.

Having Bajcetic as the backup also seems like a situation we’d be comfortable with based on how we used to go about squad building.
