I never thought the Varela rumors were serious, not at 90 million price tag. Anything could happen now. I think LFC want to sign one more but they won’t make a deal they don’t feel gives them good value for money. Chiesa was great value for money, as was Mac Allister last year.
Right now I’m hearing about Rayan Cherki, the 21 year old frenchman has always been talked about as a wonderkid type. If the fee is reasonably cheap, I wouldn’t be averse to it although he plays more of a Szoboszlai role, #10, backup wing.
We’re more in need of a DM or CB depth. But value is value, if it happens. Still a couple of days to go. Plenty could still happen. Or nothing at all!

UPDATE: Varela’s release clause is only 65m euros and not 90m. So there is a chance! However no contact between teams yet according to Fabrizio Romano.
I would favor triggering the release clause. This would be similar to how we obtained Szoboszlai. At today’s conversion rate that is 55m pounds! DO IT!!
