The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

Good luck to Heitinga. 100% record as Liverpool manager? The one where both Slot and Spikey were banned after Everton?

It will be interesting to see who we bring in. I’ve seen rumours about Kuyt and also the fella at Shakhtar whose name escapes me, who used to work with Slot.

I’m hoping Dirk Kuyt gets in on the act.

Is that a sentimental shout? Because if so, you could also say Thiago, Already done badges and has a great football brain. Also knows some of the young lads.

Can you coach from a physio table?

He may twist an ankle jumping up and down.

Slot will bring in his previous no 2 from Shaktar. Surely.

Wouldn’t mind someone like Thiago coming in.

Probably still too early for Milly though. He would be ideal as a coach. I suspect he will end up as a coach once he hangs up his boots.

Thiago might be going back to Barca to join Flick’s staff, as he did before he had to return to the UK for a year. Not sure if that’s the plan.

He probably will, but Kuyt is being considered.

Former Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt, 44, is among those being considered as Reds boss Arne Slot’s new assistant at Anfield. (Liverpool Echo)

A new rumor links Liverpool with RB Leipzig centerback star Castello Lukeba. RB Leipzig missed out on European football and his contract has a 74m release clause. Not sure if I believe it but maybe if Quansah is sold, this could open the door for Lukeba incoming?

While we will most probably look to buy a defender (more so if a move for Quansah is sanctioned) , I don’t believe we will be looking to spend that much.

Liverpool have identified winger Maghnes Akliouche as a key transfer target this summer. Monaco have agreed to drop his asking price to €60M. (Source: @lequipe)

We should have got him a few years ago at the same time as Dembele.

We lost that chance. Football is full of those what ifs

We let Cherki go to Shitty but I know we will wait for his teammate Akliouche until he will cost 10 times more but in his case he is very good but he needs filling up a bit. He is the same build as Ekitike. They maybe are looking at him because Frankfurt are asking a bit too much for him but Chelski will be happy to pay any price just to gazump Liverpool again.

Chelsea can gazump us as much as they like. They’ll still win fuck all.

He is the 3rd Monaco player we’ve been linked to now.

Not that Liverpool have done much shopping in France since Klopp’s arrival but I’m genuinely interested to know whether the club held genuine interest in France-based players. The links are there every year from the usual suspects but I never get the impression that any of them are real.

We tried signing PEA when he was leaving Saint Ettiene…

Did FSG even own us then?

It is an interesting observation given how much talent works its way through the French league that, I’m pretty sure the only player we bought directly from France in the Klopp era was Fabs. I think there is probably something there to do with the importance we put on “confidence” in our assessment. It probably just takes too many games at that comparatively low level of competition for our transfer guys to have the confidence to go ahead with a move, and given the interest in that market other clubs will have moved more often than not by the time we’ve moved beyond monitoring. It is maybe relevant that France was a step back for Fabs and so maybe had less to prove in that league to our stats guys than a kid coming up through the French ranks.

Interesting piece from the BBC on what kind of spending power PL clubs will have this summer whilst staying within PSR.

By their calculations £200m isn’t without possibility. That’s before sales where I could feasible see us generating £100m-£150m with fees for Trent, Kelleher and possibly Elliott/Quansah/Gomez all being banked as pure profit.
