The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

Good analysis, offers a lot, but question marks over his finishing, however the rest of his game looks perfect for us, especially if we get Wirtz

This feels more like someone wanting a new deal.

Feels like his intent sees he seemed to beat Diaz out for the starting left wing job and wants a little something for the effort

He’s got a contract till 2027.

There are others whose contract situation needs resolving first.

Did I ever tell you about the time I caddied for the Dalai Lama?

So I jump ship in Hong Kong and I make my way over to Tibet, and I get on as a looper at a course over in the Himalayas.

A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I’m a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald… striking. So, I’m on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one - big hitter, the Lama - long, into a ten-thousand foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga… gunga, gunga-lagunga. So we finish the eighteenth, y’know, and he’s gonna stiff me, y’know? And I say, ā€œHey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know.ā€ And he says, ā€œOh, uh, there won’t be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness.ā€ So I got that goin’ for me, which is nice.

I like Ekitike but not for the rumored 100m euros. I feel he’s probably worth closer to 70m euros (ie 50-55m pounds). But we have competition from Chelsea for his signature so his pricetag will likely get boosted by that. I’m guessing he will cost us closer to 65m pounds or 80m euros if we actually try to sign him.

I don’t know. If he’s the right player then the fee (assuming we can afford it!) is really less important than the impact he can make. Darwin would not be worth keeping around longer if he was ā€˜only 40m’ instead of 70m.

Liverpool are on course for the second-biggest transfer window of all time.

Yeah the league is fine, but this time we might really win something we haven’t done in years: the Transfer Window!

Wait, is Ibou definitely leaving?

Nope. It’s probably Quansah.

So we’re replacing one of our established first-team players with someone unproven in the league and who would be playing on the wrong side?

(Lukeba is left-footed)

If we splash out big on a central defender this summer, it’ll be Virgil’s eventual replacement. That player will start off as third choice CB and will step into the starting lineup when either Ibou leaves next summer or Virgil starts to decline.

Obviously, they’ll get plenty of game time this season, but I mean as the undisputed starter.

It’s Football365, without fans wanking over transfers, they wouldn’t exist. So they need to keep feeding that.

Off topic but lord. First everyone is a top talent then top top. Then they are world class. Now they are a generational talent.

What next?

GOAT, apparently. Usually used by people who think football exists on a PlayStation.

Going off on a thought experiment here, but it’s not hard to see that?

We’re fans of a top club, so it’s hard to see, but there are many layers of the football pyramid that aren’t the Premier League, so I’d say in many cases anyone who can make a solid career in the Football League have a decent shout to be a ā€œtop talentā€. But in any case, surely ā€œworld-classā€ would suggest that they would be players who would be argued to fit into a ā€œbest 11 players of the worldā€ conversation, and ā€œgenerational talentā€ would mean someone who comes around only every so often in each generation. The latter is rather hard to define. Is Salah a generational talent?
