The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

Does he mean a 9 and a CB or someone who can play both?

Ask Trump for that.

Keep seeing very unreliable outlets reporting on Inacio as a CB option.

Too crap to be even in the unreliable transfer rumours threads though (to mention the outlets)

Unless we’re trying to tempt Dion Dublin out of retirement, I assume it’s both…

Paul Warhurst was another.

There was an Irish guy as well, name escapes me, played for Spurs at one time I think…

Will be interesting to see what’s left on the market (can change for the better when more pieces move) when we’re ready for those two targets and also what’s our creativity. Could be some names that have never been mentioned so far.

Apologies I was wrong, but healing of bones, because of the structure can sometimes be complicated.

The issue with ligaments is that they do need rehab and physio to lay down the repairing fibres effectively and to also keep the range of movement

Gary Doherty

That’s the one!

Didn’t Chris Sutton end up at CB?

There was a lad in Football Manager back in the day who was GK/ST. I always signed him as my reserve keeper as a bench diddlešŸ˜‚

Anyway back to the rumours…

Isn’t Inacio one of those Pep style Centre Backs that actually play at Full Back?

Klopp played both CB and CF if I remember correctly. Maguire is United’s best CF now

Stuart Pearce tried with David James as well…

Leverkusen in Quansah talks

Latest from Sky Sports News’ Lyall Thomas:

Bayer Leverkusen are in talks to sign Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah.

Active negotiations are ongoing – but the deal would be a separate one from Florian Wirtz, if it is completed.

Sky Sports News previously reported Leverkusen’s interest in Quansah as the Writz deal began to progress.

Quansah – who has been in contention for a senior England cap in recent months – signed a new five-year contract at Liverpool last October.

This would be surprising, all things considering.

Isn’t he playing in a back three at Sporting rather than at fullback? Plays in a CB paring for Portugal though.

Similar to the likes of Diomande or Hincapie who typically play in a CB three at club level but as CB pair at national.

Considering he just signed a new deal last October, there is no sense of we sell for less than 20m but if upwards of 35m and with add ons, we might be interested especially if the player himself wants it. But I think it’s still speculation and exploration at this point.

If this happens, it would have to mean we are bringing a CB in. I’m already concerned at the idea of going in to next season with our existing 4 (Virj, Ibou, Gomez and Quansah) and Endo as back up.

Those numbers (4 CB’s and 8 defenders in total, although question mark over Frimpong as a defender in a 4 remains for me until he shows it) are fine to me. Quality, lack of better competition and availability of some can be the issue. That said, I do understand defence is a part of the pitch you don’t change very often. Still, it’s about time we inject some new quality at CB. And I expect us to do it.

I have been wrong on these things, but I would be very surprised if we sold. It seems all of these stories are coming from an interested club seeing a possible opportunity and presenting them as us and/or the player looking for an exit for him without there being any actual interest on either of our parts to make that happen.

I get why teams are interested and want to test the waters. There may come in an offer that raises our head or his. But I would still surprised to see him not here come the close of the window.
