I think there is a bit of laziness/click farming going on here
It is well documented that prior to signing Nunez, the one the data teams were looking at and recommending was Nkunku (I think this is talked about in Ian Graham’s book).
I know that there is an idea that once you are on LFCs list you never come off it, but I think we’ll have moved on from Nkunku - the lad has had an absolutely torrid time with injury and I cannot imagine us looking at him know, knowing his record over the last few years. It would make as much sense as signing Calvert Lewin. They are obviously great players, but you are going to do well to get 15 games out of them.
It’s another puzzling one. At 28, he is is someone you’d assume would be off our list. But it might be that the club think he is a good stop gap until a younger target becomes available.
Is this confirmed? My assumption has been that there will be some kind of rule in place for these types of circumstances and the implications on club finances (PSR etc). I assume there is also insurance.
Not much mentioned, and rightly so, on these matters.
Definitely would be a rotational stop gap, play cup games, weaker cl opponents etc. Allows us to rest Salah/Diaz a bit more, especially given the Wirtz singing will probably see those two play a bit more central as he plays in the hole.
Wouldn’t mind mateta, seems an alright lad and decent enough forward. Doubt Palace would sell for any kind of fee we’d be ok with though
I don’t mind Mateta. Reliable player who can be counted on to do a solid job. Not sure whether Palace will sell but if we can get him for way 30m euros. He can do a job for us for 4 years.
Looks like the window is about to get really busy with a few players leaving. Edwards and hughes get to shape a majority of the team how they like going forward. For the players that want to leave (diaz and Nunez), it is understandable from a financial standpoint and
play time
It is not overly clear on the actual rules. Liverpool have confirmed they will honour the rest of his contract. FIFA rules apparently bar clubs from paying out the contract of players after they have passed, but Liverpool refuted saying they had released him from his contract so were able to pay it out to his widow.
My biggest concern with him is he doesn’t really fit our style, so not entirely sure if he would actually work out or just be a bit part player to bring on for the final few minutes
Our style is changing a bit, so maybe he will fit in.
I don’t think he’s to dissimilar to Isak to be honest. Not as quick, but a decent finisher, can carry the ball, and stronger than Isak. Obviously, he’s not as good/young as Isak, but he’s still decent and for the right price, might be a good shout.
I think he is far better than some of the comments being made about him here. But that also means it will cost a good amount more money to prise him from Palace, where lets not forget he was their player of the season, than the “he’d be ok at this price” valuations being spoken about here.
But I don’t really buy the link. Not for someone who is already 28.
I’d buy links to a forward who is 28 more if he wasn’t at Palace and might be available at a reasonable price to do a Endo but it’s Palace, they don’t need to sell and will hold out for a fee that this wouldn’t be worth.
