Right wing I think.
I hadnt realized Koumas was only on loan at Stoke last year. Is there any news on what heās likely to be doing this season?
Probably not a hard guess, likely to be another loan, Iād say.
Should probably look to sell him if a suitable offer comes in
Yeah his name came up I think it was Ornstein or one of the semi regular ones who had him on a list.
We have lost Jota (RIP) who, when available, scored some crucial goals. Weāve just sold Diaz, who was a solid productive member of the attack. Even if we get Isak (who can get injuries, he did last year) then if we sell Nunez we need another forward. Rio is only 16, we canāt depend on him. We play him too much we will be shortening his career like what happened to Owen.
Itās a pity Chiesa didnāt meet the mark we all hoped he would.
The way to look at it is that Isak (presuming it happens) and Ekitike replace Nunez and Jota.
I think we do need to do something on the left, unless weāre looking at a formation change, or the club think Ngumoa is ready.
We will not sign a direct (expensive, ready made starter) replacement for Diaz.
On the left, Gakpo has made a step forward in his best position last season. That doesnāt mean he will start every game, some other players might compete with him.
Up top, because Diaz did a really good job there last season, obviously we will have two new players in. Isak and Ekitike.
What might happen is that we sign a player like Fofana, who would compete with Gakpo or a winger who can be a backup for both sides.
But maybe we donāt do it and someone like Ngumoha gets more game time if we feel we canāt ignore his progress (albeit the need to still be careful because of his age).
Still, depth needs to be taken care of, I donāt think itās time to push both Nyoni and Ngumoha in the first 22 first team players for Liverpool. Which would be the case if the likes of Elliott, Chiesa and Nunez all leave.
I think Chiesa and Nunez will leave for sure. But still unsure on Elliott.
Basically, it says that Tottenham are in for him, but he is waiting to see if Liverpool make a move. He could decide to stay at Madrid
Basically stays at Madrid then if we donāt go for him. Assume weāve shown feelers.
At this point , it makes some sense to have chiesa stick around. Heās not going to get much in transfer fee if we do decide to sell him.
Keep him for continuity and hope he gets better and is more fit as the season goes on.
Would lesson the load on players (potentially) as heās someone who can play across the forward line and possibly in AM as well.
Iām not against keeping Chiesa but itās a risk with how little he was picked last season. Iād hope heād only be our 6th choice for the forward positions if he is kept.
Yeah, pretty much what I said.
In that case, Iām starting to doubt whether weāll even go for Fofana.
The depth on the right side might be more in need, because now weāre losing some players who could do a job there in Jota and Diaz.
Now it could be someone like Szoboszlai or Elliott if he stays. Or Frimpong.
As much as I would love to see more of Rio, Iām not too happy on relying on a 17 year old for cover.
I suspect that we will see our formation tweaked.
Tbf our list of forwards next season will likely be:
Isak, Ekitike, Nunez (Rodrygo if Saudis buy Nunez), Salah, Wirtz, Chiesa (Fofana if he goes back to Italy), Rio, so itās not like weād be relying on him. Heād be bottom of the pecking order, Frimpong will probably get more minutes as a forward while Salah is at AFCON
Pretty okay with the depth on the right side even if Elliot goes.
Weāve got Soboszlai, Frimpong , Doak and Chiesa(assuming we want to keep Doak and Chiesa )
I donāt see us getting Rodrygo.
5 forwards plus Danns from the youth and Frimpong/Dom as a backup RW should be fine.
Szoboszlai is a key pressing figure centrally. Frimpong is there, but then heāll probably be mainly our RB competitor. I donāt think Chiesa and Doak will be here.
