The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

It’s not 45 minutes of pre-season. It is 3 weeks of the most physically grueling part of the season. The games are trivialities in comparison. Yes it’s a set back a reminder that relying on Gomez is something beyond a risk, but let’s at least characterize properly where the set back has come from.

Grav was excellent against Leao and won most of his duels against him

You all talk as if a nuclear strike can make Gordon look any worse

Greek journo. No idea if reliable or not. Seem to remember noise from Greece first about the Tsimikas transfer but can’t remember which journos so can’t say whether this guy is worth paying attention to

Edit: apparently this is the guy that first talked about the Tsimikas transfer

guess what, room just became available on our left

You think so. Seems more like we get Isak and play with two up front. And in case we play with three, Rio needs minutes in as well.and can be the backup to Gakpo.

isnt Doak on the left as well?

Linked with an exit. And he’s a right winger. Koumas is the other option on the left.

Right wing I think.

I hadnt realized Koumas was only on loan at Stoke last year. Is there any news on what he’s likely to be doing this season?

Probably not a hard guess, likely to be another loan, I’d say.

Should probably look to sell him if a suitable offer comes in

Yeah his name came up I think it was Ornstein or one of the semi regular ones who had him on a list.

We have lost Jota (RIP) who, when available, scored some crucial goals. We’ve just sold Diaz, who was a solid productive member of the attack. Even if we get Isak (who can get injuries, he did last year) then if we sell Nunez we need another forward. Rio is only 16, we can’t depend on him. We play him too much we will be shortening his career like what happened to Owen.

It’s a pity Chiesa didn’t meet the mark we all hoped he would.

The way to look at it is that Isak (presuming it happens) and Ekitike replace Nunez and Jota.

I think we do need to do something on the left, unless we’re looking at a formation change, or the club think Ngumoa is ready.

We will not sign a direct (expensive, ready made starter) replacement for Diaz.

On the left, Gakpo has made a step forward in his best position last season. That doesn’t mean he will start every game, some other players might compete with him.

Up top, because Diaz did a really good job there last season, obviously we will have two new players in. Isak and Ekitike.

What might happen is that we sign a player like Fofana, who would compete with Gakpo or a winger who can be a backup for both sides.

But maybe we don’t do it and someone like Ngumoha gets more game time if we feel we can’t ignore his progress (albeit the need to still be careful because of his age).

Still, depth needs to be taken care of, I don’t think it’s time to push both Nyoni and Ngumoha in the first 22 first team players for Liverpool. Which would be the case if the likes of Elliott, Chiesa and Nunez all leave.

I think Chiesa and Nunez will leave for sure. But still unsure on Elliott.

Basically, it says that Tottenham are in for him, but he is waiting to see if Liverpool make a move. He could decide to stay at Madrid

Basically stays at Madrid then if we don’t go for him. Assume we’ve shown feelers.
