The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 4)

Him again? I see he is in the Brazil squad for the WC, but so is some bloke called Wesley.

Anyway, let’s wait and see. Everything’s up in the air right now.

Yeah if rumours about more changes take place then directions on what we want may change. Probably sign two Dutch lads now

Bremmer is an interesting one as he is one of those players who has seemed to be linked to a big move for 3 or 4 years and never does it. And in all that time Im not sure I’ve ever seen him play. I know he made the Brazil squad, but does anyone know if he’s likely to play? @Zoran ?

He seems to have been linked with us a couple of times over the last year or so?

He’s a good player, good in the air, and at age 29 there’s a nice gap to the young defensive talent we have acquired. Bring it on if Bremer is the one. The sting in the tail might be Alisson going the other way and a cash adjustment. Hope I’m wrong on that part.

Van Dijk
Bremer
Jacquet
Leoni

That’s a good group, with more young talent behind the last two.

If we go and get a CB then van Hecke is the one for me. Just look at his ability on the ball…

Although his aerial’s might be an issue as we tend to value that category very highly but him and van Dijk passing into midfield would be much more effective than van Dijk and Konate.

Seems quite similar in profile to Guehi? Not dominant aerially but makes up for it by being excellent in other ways.

Guehi’s aerial is actually pretty decent, better than I expected, but I wonder if that was boosted by Palace’s defensive style making headers more likely and easier than aggressive teams like Brighton.

Isn’t van Hecke really slow? I’m sure someone mentioned it when we were linked in January.

How much do you think they would want for Van Hecke? 60M? More? I’d be happy with him too, and as you point out the passing is very good.

If Bremer is half the price, and we have to spend a lot in other areas, that might come into play.

I don’t think so. He’s not van de Ven but he’s decently quick. He’s also used to playing in a high line so nothing new for him.

But he is slower than Ibou who is a bit of a physical specimen

Yes agreed - but he reads the game better than Konate also. Swings and roundabouts really.

And this is why Virgil is one of the best in the world. He has everything in his locker

If we are going to spend good money on a central defender, in the 60M range, I’d like to see us bring Quansah home. If there’s an inbuilt clause there, and we essentially pay them 20M plus their money back, for giving him the minutes he needed to finish his schooling, I’d be all over that.

Quansah potentially has it all. He is THAT good imo. Just needs his focus and decision making to improve. And looks like it has already gone up a level

Didn’t our option for this year expire already?

Fair comment.
Apart from Enrique I can’t think of a manager I would be woohooing about.
As much as I love him I think Alonso still has a lot to prove, I mean what is his record against Slots Liverpool?
It is massive step up for Iraola, and as you say he has to prove he belongs at this level. If he is to be our next Manager/Coach I just hope the Club learn from last season and us, the fans show him patience.
