The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 4)

The rumours seem to originate from AnfieldWatch so I expect that it’s clickbait rubbish.

Any volunteers to drive him to John Lennon?

No, he’s a perfectly good squad player. Had a bad season last year, like they all did. But had scored plenty of goals before and will do so again

He’s not a great creative player but if he is Isak’s stand-in until Ekitike is fit again then I think he’ll do a fine job of that. Pretty good finisher, can hold up the ball well enough, great athlete. No reason to shoot ourselves in the foot and sell him just because a previous coach didn’t know how to use him (or seemingly anyone else in the squad).

Let’s see how reliable this Schira guy is - linking us with Barcola.

Would be a great signing for a start.

Dunno why people want shot of Gakpo right now. We’re already short on options so why make another problem to solve.

He’s a confidence player who, despite people making out he was a Slot favourite, looked completely devoid of confidence last season.

With a new manager coming in I’d be giving everyone one of them a clean slate, including Gakpo. As with all of them, they’ve shown to be better players than they were last year so let’s see what a new manager can do for them. Afterall, that’s why we’ve brought him in.

The Gakpo bashing is tiresome, he’s not Slot’s pet he arrived under Klopp and dare I say it has shown more than a certain Isak on the pitch at Liverpool thus far.

Mainly because he isnt very good so he´s an illusion of an option.

For the fee we´d get (if we could sell), we could bring in a better player who can actually play out wide.

That’s just not true though is it? He’s not Mane or Diaz but he’s a perfectly decent option and has shown that under two different managers here.

Also this idea it’s that easy to flog him and buy someone for the same money who’d definitely be better is lovely and all but the reality is it’s a 50/50 shot at best.

Fully appreciate we could upgrade on him but with the holes elsewhere don’t make another one to try and fill. Reassess next summer once we’ve seen him under the new manager.

Gakpo really feels like one for next summer to me, and I think it’s absolutely nuts, with all the work we have to do, that people are seriously suggesting that replacing him is a priority.

It’s why I’d swerve Kroupi. Plays predominately off the left, and I don’t think it makes sense to drop £80m when we don’t have a single option on the right.

If I were making a list of players Slot showed unwarranted dedication to Gakpo wouldn’t be my go to. Don’t he would even be top three.

I wouldn’t mind selling gappo but the problem is we have sold a huge amount of players in the past couple of years and the squad depth and actual numbers are now very low. Need a major re haul of the squad which is mad when you think of it. There is no way I would consider selling jones. Ali etc . Mad as it seems I would seriously consider having a chat with Andy and see would he re sign . Also look at some free transfers in or those on last year of contracts

He just spent the season showing us he´s not a decent option

Just a mediocre prem wide player really. He IS part of the holes.

Spurs are actively after Van Hecke

I would say the fact that there was only one player you could pick for player of the season shows the whole team was mediocre.

In fact I voted Morrison as he had a good season in the U21s.

Indeed.

A lot of the team isn´t up to it. That is the situation.

You could probably still say Van Dijk and Szobo for player of the season. Maybe Hugo.
