The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 4)

Is Ben Davies still available?

Its £2m fee and £3m in wages

I didn’t expect much more than that.

We might get a total of around £10m for Robbo now and Tsimi next summer if we sell him.

Might be unreliable here…

It’s also reported in BILD (a German publication in search of a chip shop) but they only refer to ā€œreportsā€ without naming sources.

It’s possible that they have made contact with him, but I suspect the reports are just wishful thinking.

I’m happy with Kerkez. Very good in the 1v1 battles, great stamina, good pace. His passing and crossing can both improve and I’m sure they will as he matures. He has come into a side that is struggling, and older heads who would usually help newbies to settle have themselves been off form. The obvious changes/upgrades we need to make to finish the team rebuild are:

Central defender/s.
Winger/s.
Defensive midfielder, who can also pass well.

There may be other areas if we want to keep going, the point being, replacing Kerkez is a long way down the list! And while he hasn’t been perfect, I think he has been doing better lately and will be a solid addition to the side for the long haul.

Romano reporting that 3 clubs are interested for Jeremy Jacquet and we’re in that race.

Rennes want to keep him until the end of the season, but there could be a sale agreed now (or even outside the window) for the player to move in the summer.

Rennes will only accept a fee that will make him become their new record ever sale, so that means surpassing the €60m they got for Doku. Chelsea were willing to go €40-50m, no agreement so far.

He says Liverpool and Bayern are also in the race.

Also adds that from what he knows, there’s been no official contact between Liverpool and Alonso.

You’d hope not with Slot still in place. That doesn’t mean there isn’t unofficial contact though. In fact there would have to be in order to ensure a smooth transition if and when the moment arises.

Of course.

just googled him.

is he good enough, or more pertinantly, is he ready for first team action in the PL?

He wouldn’t, would he?
Manchester City are actively keeping tabs on England right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold as uncertainty continues to grow over the 27-year-old’s future at Real Madrid. (Teamtalk), external

Really???

Liverpool have contacted ex-Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso’s representatives to enquire about the Spaniard’s availability, with the 44-year-old reportedly giving a positive response to his former club’s approach. (AS - in Spanish)

Team talk is a crock of shit so probably not. Though Pep loves his full backs.

RBs: we should make a move for TAA this summer IMO, and push Frimpong forward on the field.

CBs: Schlotterbeck is the most reasonable choice out there. Quansah and Upamecano can be considered should Konate leaves.

Wingers: send Gakpo and Salah packing this summer, and then buy two wingers between 23 and 27 to replace them. Barcola and Olise are some of the options that should be considered.

CDM: Adam Wharton. But, buying back Tyler Morton should be considered if we run out of options.

And how much is that going to cost us, luckily money trees grow all over!

Mark my words, TAA will be one of the cheaper options if he leaves this summer.

Upamecano will be free if he leaves Bayern. And then Schlotterbeck. Alternatively, increase Konate’s wages to 200k-per-week to keep him - for better or worse he (and Diaz last season) deserves that more than Gakpo.

Wharton is already our target.

The new winger can be financed by sending Gakpo and Salah packing, especially Gakpo who doesn’t deserve anywhere near 200k-per-week let alone 250k.

Gakpo is having a nightmare season alongside many other Liverpool players - that doesn’t mean that he will be sent packing, considering he’s only signed a new contract.

The other flank needs massive strengthening, though. I don’t expect Salah or Chiesa to remain at Liverpool beyond this season - we know the team will need a winger and his back-up probably depends on how the new manager views Frimpong.

Centre back, though… I expect two to join in the summer. Some Twitter analysts that I’ve been following for ages have been championing that Jacquet kid that Chelsea are now looking to sign - apparently, he fits the profile the team needs. Could be something in that but another one is definitely needed.

Bayern have verbally agreed a new deal with Upamecano, so he’s likely going to stay now.

Wharton, Rogers, Van de Ven and Schlotterback are probably the four players I’ve seen be linked with us through the more reliable sources, I don’t know how likely they are as targets, particularly if our results this season continue to be poor.

Who’s the more reliable source that linked us with Rogers recently?

nothing I’m aware of in the immediate period - It was though mentioned last summer that we wanted an option on him when doing the Elliott deal. I’m sure he was also talk of him being a target for us the year before too. Given it’s unlikely that Mo will be sticking around beyond the summer, It would make sense they are now pursuing a deal. Although obviously that’s no guarantee he will have the same interest in us or that we can beat others to his signature, or that we will be willing to pay what Villa ask.
