That’s about my take on it too. You can have thousands of protesters and say, some property damage (I don’t condone the damage, but we’ve seen that happening).
And on the other hand you can have a militia-vigilante kid marching down the street with an assault weapon, killing people who are protesting, and then walking out of there, cool as a cucumber, past several police cars.
If Trump ‘wins’ there will be many thousands of protestors.
If Biden wins, there will be less… but I expect the deadly use of force to be greater.
I hope not, but I fear this outcome, and it is shameful that it should be this way in modern day America.
again, biden is running an ad nationally where he condemns ‘looters’ and ‘rioters’ and makes no mention of police misconduct
rittenhouse was in the front row at a trump rally, was thanked by the police for showing up in wisconsin with a gun, then the police watched him kill people and walk away. trump basically defended him, and fox news & OAN hesitated for all of about 15 seconds before deciding to celebrate him as a hero
right-wingers have made a meme out of ‘mostly peaceful’, when their conviction that the protests are violent is largely the creation of the media ignoring them until something gets set on fire
property damage and looting is a common occurrence after championships in sports, but they’re not accompanied by the same kind of heavy-handed police response
you can argue that breaking starbucks windows is violence, but you can’t argue that tear gas and blinding people with rubber bullets isn’t violence
we’ve already seen paramilitaries roaming the west coast hunting ‘antifa’ over facebook nonsense about the wildfires, and being encouraged by the nazi-adjacent clackamas county sheriff to ‘have fun’ and put a knife in the hand of anyone they might shoot
The issue is, if you are someone who genuinely believes Q Anon stuff, a violent uprising is really the only sane response to Trump losing. The insanity is in the belief system, not the actions that people take in response.
I mean, take the guy who traveled 1000 miles to storm Comet Ping Pong. Even after realizing that it was JUST a pizza place, his response was not to see the light, but to speculate on how “they” all got away before he could get there. But, what if the kids were really there? The guy would have been a fucking hero.
Rittenhouse along with others were thanked by cops, when they were protecting stores not after the shooting. That only and only happened because cops were consistently told to stand down, vilified, etc. In the same way Reinoehl was hailed by VICE.
If we really cared for the problem, then we must try to find out why gunmen were needed in the first place. I saw videos of all over USA, and it wasn’t just white folks. I saw Latinos, Blacks and even Sikhs defending their shops, because cops were told to stand down. That is the important point.
The likes of Biden have ONLY criticised looting after seeing the falling poll numbers. Dems have actively supported it before that, and even contributed to the bail fund of rioters (including campaign staff of Biden and Harris).
A simple look on the internet will show you people being arrested in dozens and instantly bailed for rioting. In some cases same people multiple times. We even saw a Dem council member on TV saying that people when faced with home invasion should ‘Check their privilege’ instead of saving themselves or calling cops.
The report by Nellie Bowles on Chaz was shocking. There were multiple murders, assaults and rape there. Portland is being burned for almost 100 days. But the moment a truck with flags shows up, it’s problematic.
If the Dems, authorities and media had consistently called out problematic elements from the start and held police accountable while also allowing them do their jobs, the right wing nuts wouldn’t have assembled in response. More importantly people wouldn’t have justified them.
It’s crazy that Dems failed to see this simple phenomenon. You have handed a plus point to Trump.
We know which side will have the greater number of fire arms and is most prepared to use extreme violence out side of picket line camp fires and a bit of vandalism!
This is entirely a fabrication of the Trump crowd…first that he was silent on the issue and then that he only finally spoke out because it was hurting him. As you surely saw on here and the other place, not only was Biden not quiet on the issue, but he was saying things that the woke crowd you dislike were upset about as being too pro-police.
Keep that in mind as you think about the rest of what you wrote.
Grand Jury in the case of the Briana Taylor cops has closed. One of the 3 has been charged on 3 counts of wanted endangerment, the other two will not face any charges, including the man who fired the fatal shot.
Are we looking at a potential civil war no matter what is the outcome of the election is??? Maybe civil war is too radical but a prolonged and violent strife.
Prolonged voter disenfranchisement, an inherently biased media that has a vested interest in generating fear and outrage, an unfettered social media that has a vested interest in propagating mistrust and fear and outrage, a broken two-party system that relies not on the marketplace of ideas, but on using any means necessary to stay in power, the massive influence of money in US politics whereby people with lots of money essentially get whatever they want, the massive influence that other special interest groups - particularly evangelical groups - have in US politics which further disenfranchises voters who do not consider themselves part of said special interest groups.
We could go on and on and on. At the end of the day, American culture and society has led to the forming of essentially two massive factions that hate each other and have been trending towards having no tolerance for the existence of the other for decades now. Trump was the manifestation of that. He didn’t cause this - it was already there. People are rotten, and there has been no impetus to stop the rot. Human condition.
Even if it is true that Biden has been criticising from the start (and I am willing to accept that), I don’t know what you meant by that. The rest of my post is correct, cause those things did happen.
reinoehl was riddled with bullets by federal agents while eating gummi worms & checking his mail an hour after the vice interview aired, and trump boasted about authorizing it. and his ‘victim’ was a member of a violent group that portland police not only declined to arrest, but were caught colluding with via text to make sure those with active warrants kept a relatively low profile so as not to create embarrassing optics
rittenhouse tried to turn himself into the police and they let him go
there’s really not an equivalence
the denver police are showing up in tanks to arrest protest organizers and charge them with kidnapping for sitting down outside the station, not a peep from the left-wing media
Gunmen were going into councill and state meeting long before all this. You have skipped a large part of the story. Cops and gunmen have been in alliance for a long time. Cops kill unarmed people but let paramilitarys roam free. Why shouldn’t cops be criticised?
