Thiago in the Premier League since arriving at Liverpool:
ā¢ 20/21: 20 starts
ā¢ 21/22: 17 starts
ā¢ 22/23: 14 starts
and I thought he was absent a lot last season. Heās done well to beat 17 starts!
When I look at his assists/goals/injuries I think we could spend his wages better but who will buy him, only one year on his contract guess we will see him again next year.
To put it another way,
22/23
Gini has played 584/2970 Serie A minutes = 19.6% of available minutes for Roma
Thiago has played 1256/2970 PL minutes = 42.3% of available minutes for LFC
21/22
Gini played 1651/3420 available Ligue 1 minutes = 48.3% of available minutes for PSG
Thiago played 1536/3420 PL minutes = 44.9% of available minutes for LFC
Thiago has actually played quite a bit more minutes of league games than Gini since Gini left LFC.
Barca are interested. Swop for Gavi. Done!
I think itās important to stress that nobody is making a judgement on Thiagoās talent. He is obviously a wonderful football player, possessed of extravagant talent.
Itās purely a question of resources and availability.
By the end of this season, Thiago will have a record near enough two games injured for every game fit. Thatās untenable and even more so at around 200k a week.
We donāt have the kind of resources to waste money like this.
Regarding your stats they are wrong?
If he has played in 96 games and missed 58, he has missed 0.5 for evert game heās played.
Loved him as a player, probably his biggest fan, stood up for him on many occassions, but if he canāt stay fit then we need to consider letting him go to easy league and an easier team to play for.
Thatās a terrible way of looking at it, especially whilst Gini was at PSG. He was never injured until he stepped foot in Rome.
to be honest I dont care how many games a player plays when he leaves us. It has no relevance at all.
Him carrying this injury goes some way to explaining his almost comically bad substitute appearances of late.
Maybe you didnāt mean it to be your point, but it was your point. You said " to think we let player W go, and we kept X,Y and Z is mind boggling" is to say the delivery of W since departing has been greater than X ,Y and Z. On the evidence, we made the better decision in regards to Thiago Vs Gini. Ox and Keita I will grant you have delivered nothing since Gini left but then, we havenāt knocked back any offers on them either, since there were none.
Gini has delivered less on the pitch since leaving than Thiago. He has now been destroyed by injury problems. I love Gini but in all measures Thiago has been the better player to keep over 21/22 and 22/23.
So he just wasnāt good enough to play?
I just got the info from that bloke on twitter who posts all the stats posted in this thread
In all comps per seasons: 30, 39, 28 so far.
Itās not great, but also not terrible, considering how his career went and the age heās at.
Should be easier to find a buyer for him this summer than for Keita or especially Ox in last windows, thatās for sure. If we want to do that.
We do have a problem with injuries, maybe not all the time, but more often than weād like. But not every player is equally injury prone and at the same stage of their careers.
Correct.
He had his chances early on in the season where he was starting, Poch didnāt fancy him so stuck him on the bench rest of the season, or most of it anyway.
He broke his leg in a training ground collision. Thatās entirely situation.
You got the direction wrong.
He makes 1.7 appearances for each one he misses, not the other way around.
Not as dramatic.
Need him to be worse so we can get rid
Thatās not a fair assessment. Fitness is only part of it. Wages matter as well as ability and attitude. Thatās why of Ox, Thiago, Keita, Gomez are still at the club and Wijnaldum would have stayed too, had he had lowered his compensation demands.
Itās not as if we didnāt want to keep him.
We need to move him on anyway regardless.
You can still keep your Thiago No 1 fan badge.
