Thiago ALCANTARA: 2022/23

They will get tired of it considering how quickly some get tired of other places.

That’s why it’s the over thirty two year deal lot.

Absolutely right. Look at this here:

A c*nt like Benzema is cut for that super-luxury life among tyrants and bandits, and will love it to the core. I’m absolutely not surprised that he makes that move.

Also probably has issues with US visas

I think that is fair. The various engineer types I know who have gone there and got that treatment tend to be there for only a couple of months at a time. Actually living there, even if only for a couple of years would get boring really quickly

Yup, from what I’ve read, I assure some would love it but considering how bored they get of some great cities I can’t see them lasting out long. Makes sense for anyone over 33 like but I’m surprised with the likes of Zaha, saying that he will probably be back at someone like Coventry in two years.

Could see Salah going there in a few years, maybe even after us. Would make sense on a few levels.

One of my good mates from work has gone over there for almost 4x his UK salary. He’s earning enough to pay off his mortgage when he returns in a couple of years and set his family up for the future.

He hasn’t said it outright, but I’m fairly certain he’s hating it already and he’s only been there a matter of weeks. This is somebody who has done numerous long military tours.

my uncle (RIP) was offered a position in Riyadh in the late 90’s, he was a drafting and design instructor. He went there, did a tour of the school they wanted him to teach and and then the barracks where his family would be. didn’t take the job at any price.

Thiago is unlikely to be offered a new contract at Liverpool with only a year left on his deal.

Jokes aside - took Jürgen very long but feels like he finally learnt his lesson when it comes to aging and injury prone stars.

We still wanted to give Naby a new contract in October, Firmino in January and Milner in march.

Useful player to have about but yeah we should be looking to find his replacement this summer.

We’ve just signed him.

Nah that’s Hendo’s done.

We kind of signed Origis replacement Jota, Sadios replacement Díaz and Bobby’s replacement Cody in January.

Expecting the Thiago replacement to arrive in January too.

Overall I feel that the plan is to bring in four new midfielders until summer 2024. Two or three of them now.

Mac is basically already that long term replacing move in that LCM role (though now he has to show it on the pitch). If Thiago stays for his final season, them two might share most minutes in that position. If Thiago stays for his final season, it will be good for Mac to have an experienced winner like Thiago to learn from for one year, pick up more things. And it will be good that Thiago doesn’t have to play every available minute. Jones might also be in contention of course, though he can cover both sides in midfield and also between the lines. Don’t think we have any January plans when we’re in June of 2023.

Learned his lesson? As in he was unaware of the pitfall of injury-prone players?

He obviously thought that the risk was worth the reward.

SA league is the new Chinese super league…will all go tits up in 18 months

Not so sure about that. The way they have approached the Newcastle project suggests that lessons have been learned, and the fact that they are simultaneously infiltrating other sports hints at a concerted effort to create a sportswashing empire. They have money, influence and power.

But at the moment no decent player in their prime gone there (that I am aware of).
No idea why this league and MLS want to pay fortunes for players that come from Europe who are finished.

Because it attracts eye balls.
