A few years back, in the Gini, Fab, Henderson midfield, and Trent making his first couple of years in the first team, he played more up and down, and get closer to the byline. Henderson would shuffle to cover for him.
We’ve now evolved to a different pattern of play. If Southgate wants, he could easily revert to the teen years Trent style with a midfield of Rice, OTHER and Henderson. Would require little work in training.
With Chillwell out, can even play a more conservative player at left back, and allow TAA/James more freedom down the right.
So what you are saying is we should be given a free run at Bellingham by all teams at the orders of the FA so we can train Jude on how to play with and cover for Trent as the playmaker? It’s a bold claim, but I like it.
The philosophy of building a team around 1 player is flawed, especially if the said player gets injured, that’s why we are doing so well as we have a team 1st philosophy
Was always the issue in the past with us, I was delighted we moved on from it. We have key players of course but you need to know that anyone off that bench can come in when matters.
There was a point where Sven essentially told English players they were better off being on Utd’s bench than being at lesser clubs where they would play regularly.
