Trent ALEXANDER-ARNOLD: 2024/25

I’ve never been at more peace with a key player leaving, not only because this has been football’s worst kept secret for the past 6 months, but rather it being easier to accept letting go this version of Trent.

The reason why I could care less about, be it he wanted to leave…had his heart and mind set on it since Jude went there & all that ballon d’or bullshit he’ll never get his hands on…couldn’t afford his wages…don’t value him highly enough, no longer becomes relevant.

If this club decide to let the other 2 leave, questions will resurface (correctly) over the ambitions of this club.

Obviously nothing is official until it’s announced, but we cannot pretend that everything that’s being reported is fake. So let’s not be surprised once certain things are announced. We act differently when it’s our incoming transfer targets and are much more often on the better end of transfer movements. Key players leaving the club cannot go without lots of talks among fans, that is just natural. The main thing is that the players are focused on the pitch, which they have been and we’re on course to have a successful season.

I am not sure the Schmadtke period was a problem, if you look at the other business done. It seems like Trent just decided he wanted to try something else, and when that something else is Real Madrid and huge wages, it may never have been possible to change that.

Salah is almost a foregone conclusion. There are so many warning signs in his performance, and he wants a longer term contract. I thought all along that Van Dijk was the only one of the three with a realistic chance of re-signing on terms beneficial to the club

Yeah the thought that a right back can win the ballon D’or is crazy - even if it was deserved. If he is up for it then it means Madrid have had a good season so it goes to Mbappe or Vinnie etc - right backs dont win these awards.

Well, I always thought he was gone, and now I just feel good that it’s done. This maybe means we can accelerate negotiations with Van Dijk and Salah - those two, especially Van Dijk, are much more important.

With Trent, I feel like his mind has been elsewhere for a long time. Many people say he has a problem with defense, but I think it’s more about his focus. He always shows up in big games and shuts down many dangerous attacks, which makes a real difference compared to his normal performances. it’s been annoying me.

Well then, he’ll fit right in

Its obvious that Real’s interest is not happening only this season, Skysports article talked about Real already been actively working a deal for 2 years now and when we were joking that TAA was persuading Bellingham to join us when they linked up for England duties when he was about to leave Dortmund. Ended up it was the reverse, Jude had been persuading him to join Real instead and this is the best time for him to leave, both from a financial and career point of view, it just will leave some fans with a bad taste no matter how he tries to justify it. But well, this is football, at the end of the day, we support the club and players as long they respected and gave their best, we can only wish them the best.

Well, on many occasions, I’ve felt like he didn’t give his best.

I do agree he lacked focus at times but its not a new or recent thing with him and there are no perfect players, while he is here, I think by and large he has been the best RB we had at least in the PL era.

But if it’s exactly the same story as the unreliables then that asks even more questions.

Shitty way to leave, gonna leave a bad taste in the mouth for a while. Giving it the biggun about local lad, dreams come true etc, then fucking off without a transfer fee so you can bag an enhanced sign on fee after two years of talks with Madrid.

Tarnishing what could’ve been unblemished legacy, all he had to do was leave for a reasonable fee and be up front about wanting a new challenge. Instead shafting the club that gave him the career he loves out of the money for a developed generational talent, especially in the age of psr, is how he seems to have chosen to go.

Obviously don’t wish any ill on anyone but he ain’t going with any good wishes given the manners of his leaving. 5 years stuck on the bench as Madrid get fed up with his obsession of convincing everyone he could be a midfielder would be nice.

If he stays I never said any of this

never doubted his quality. But in many games, he played like he didn’t care and only focused on Hollywood passes all the time, we all know he’s capable of doing better. That annoyed me. He’s a unique and generational talent, but I’ve always felt like we could be a better team with a more suitable right-back.

The main source reporting it is some unknown Swiss source so…?

Again, I will repeat my point. If Real Madrid wanted to unsettle him, this is exactly what they would do. Just get Liverpool fans to turn against him.

When was a reasonable fee ever on the table, though?

And what interest would Real have in Liverpool fans turning against Trent?

Oh I don’t know…

We’re close to decision time and from what I saw, most fans are still behind Trent and where it matters, from the stands.

Real Madrid don’t need Liverpool fans unsettling Trent to get it over the line, them alone are enough to attract him, which is probably the case.

Online, fans are a totally diverse bunch anyway and you’ll get haters for everyone, let alone Trent who might leave for Real now.

It’s one of the highest profile transfers moves so it’s logical that the world hears about it before it’s announced, it’s how the world works, nothing new. Moves like Sol from Spurs to Arsenal are highly unlikely (how it was unknown) in this day and age, no matter how hard you try to keep it secret.

I have nothing against Real or Trent for their conduct during this period since it was first reported that there’s an interest for the move.

It wasn’t, but if Madrid are that desperate for him he could have done what Suarez did and signed a contract with a reasonable release clause and gone the first summer possible. Theres absolutely a reasonable mid point between we reckon he’s worth hundreds odd and him running his contract down. 50-60 mil with add ons probably would have been attainable and prevented a lot of the ire he’s going to draw and easily afforded us a new RB.

Instead he’s, seemingly, buggering off for sod all and he’ll try point to the 20 mil bid as a defence.
