UEFA Champions League 2020-21

Again, fun to see United go and screw you crybaby Bruno, but now that Leipzig is through I think they will hold onto their defenders in next window.

Maguire was out in the media a day or two ago and said that Europa League wasn’t even something the squad thought of as a possibility due to their high confidence. I smiled a bit too myself and thought that even if I was confident, I would have worded myself a bit differently. It did sound a tad like hubris.

Waiting to see Rio and Scholes’ expression in studio. Will be more hang dog than usual I bet.

I love the smell of Man United playing on Thursdays. Yes, it still stinks.

Micah Richards just gave a really well thought out and reasoned response to the situation at PSG/Istanbul.

I am going to watch 3-5 min of Goldbridge’s post match rant now, while enjoying a dark ale.

Very good point by Peter Schmeichel. The referee was piss poor in controlling things in Paris

Quoting for truth. Unfortunately there is a tendency towards histrionics on both sides of this issue – on the one hand “cancelling” people even for these less malicious incidents; on the other the kneejerk to denialism, “everyone just wants to be offended these days” – at the cost of meaningful conversation.

To the latter group I would really encourage a pause to consider the cumulative effects of generations of being placed on the outside looking in, all the way down to the level of day-to-day utterances and interactions. What would actually hearing and recognizing Ba’s frustration look like?

To the former, all that should reasonably be asked of the official is how he could simply address things differently in the future – asking the coach to step forward to be identified, asking his name, etc. (It occurs to me that perhaps this is why most club gear has the staff initials attached in lieu of a playing number?) A fair response should not mean that he loses his job over this.

Wow, just seen what has happened at the PSG-Basaksehir game. I’m not sure I have the words to sum up all my feelings on it at the moment - and in fact I’m not sure my feelings as white man should even come into it to be honest - but I am very supportive of the players taking the action they felt was necessary.

Too often white people are the first to be asked how black people should feel about racism (or at least racially conative language).
