It’s the manager. He likes to be the one credited with the manner of victory, and the victory itself, so he’s always tinkering when it comes to the crunch and overcomplicating things. That filters into the players and because it’s not the domestic cups where they regularly play the likes of Grimsby all the way up to and sometimes including the finals, they don’t really have the bottle when it’s raining shit and they have to dig deep.

I agree, playing De Bruyne as a false 9, was a massive mistake. He was wasted, no influence on the game at all.
