I remember situations like Monaco and Leverkusen, where they got unexpectedly knocked out of Europe, possibly hoping to use an “easy draw” to save energy down the stretch.

If we’d hand picked that draw for ourselves we’d have been hard pressed to come up with a better outcome.

Though I know some who would rather us win to put City down and others who would love us to lose as they couldn’t care about City. I do feel the hatred towards us especially from some clubs can be summed up in the fact that you could actually do this. You don’t need oil money to compete but you can’t for some reason.

Don’t want to think about who will make it into the final from the other 4 teams and anything can happen in a final.
For us the path to the final is perfect and now after the draw I would be very disappointed if we don’t make it to Paris.
I can understand that Bayern is rated very strong but truth is that this is the weakest Bayern side of the last 15 years.
They’ve lost so many players over the last few years and were not able to replace them adequately.
We had them in 2019. First leg we kept a clean sheet without VvD (Fab at CB) and beat them at Munich (I was there) without Fabinho.
They’ve lost important players like Alaba, Hummels and Thiago while we added Thiago, Konate, Díaz and Jota.
So I am very relaxed about possible facing them.

Late to the news of the draw, but I’m happy with that. Very happy actually. Benfica and Villarreal have to be the two least fancied teams and we got one of them, while also avoiding an English team until the final… assuming one of them makes it, which they might not. Obviously we have to turn up and not assume anything, but we really need to be beating Benfica. Bayern Munich, assuming they beat Villarreal, will be a heck of a semi final tie.
On the other side of the draw, let them kill each other. Man City should beat Atletico, but Atletico are a good team who, as we know, will also play all the dark arts you like. Hopefully they frustrate and spoil City, while nicking a goal to go through. Chelsea and Real Madrid is a toss up, as is the semi final on that side, whoever it may be.
Anyway, game on. I’m happy with that, get in!
And am I right in thinking we face Man City in the league in the midst of their battle with Atletico? Hopefully that knocks the edge off them as they are tough buggers to play against.

That’s right. Both CL games on Tuesday. They play at home we travel to Lisbon. Then on Sunday we play at the Emptyhad.

Benfica playing too atm.
They have 34 year old Nicolas Otamendi and 34 year old Jan Verthongen at CB. Is that their regular pairing?

They started the same pair against Ajax so I assume so unless they have an injury.
They are third in Portugal by the way in that particular 3 team league.
