UEFA Champions League (Part 1)

I totally blanked any form of social media, tv, radio and news yesterday and this morning except to read the news on TAN. I was totally gutted for Inter Milan. :slightly_frowning_face: These Man City fans were the ones who always whistled during the Champions League anthem before the matches and said that they only cared for the EPL not Champions League.

I worry with the rise of Newcastle, I can see those two teams dominating the top 2 spots in the EPL after 5 years. I am also sure the continental power houses like Inter/AC Milan, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Athletico Madrid and Barcelona will not be that keen to see Man City spending like drinking water and dominating the Champions League either.

I heard the UEFA are going to put a cap on the price of buying players.
I can’t see any other way how the authorities can stop Man City buying the premium players at top rate prices. Man City have been taken to court and still have gotten away with it.

There are a lot of Arabs in this part of London and lo and behold…they’re all suddenly City fans.

All that means is that the teams that can offer the highest wages will accumulate all the top players and the other clubs won’t even be properly compensated for them.

By rights they shouldn’t have even been competing this season, they were initially banned from this CL edition before going crying to CAS and getting enough delay to get the ruling overturned.

The Arabs I know in London are usually Arsenal fans or Liverpool (some because of Mo Salah)

@Maria I wouldn’t be surprised if there are more Newcastle tops turning up around here either

Suppose Uefa put a limit of 100mp a year on buying players, what could happen there is mega rich clubs get in as many top players before the rule is imposed and then every year just buy 1 player for 100mp.

Untill Newcastle wins.

I saw photo of my local with Cheaty fans celebrating that win. Normally there are about 5 of them, of whom 3 of them never heard of MC before 2008, watching their matches, must be about 25 losers in the picture. :face_vomiting:

Omg! The EPL is doomed. We might as well all pack up and give up on football and watch English Championship league! Financial Fair Play has gone out the window
I am flipping depressed!!

Saudi Arabia have already got their foot in the door with Golf and Boxing! Now, its football. They are also pushing for the Olympics as well.
Qatar also wants a piece of EPL too, even though they have PSG.

How come they aren’t buying in La Liga and Serie A?

It would be also who can pay the most in secret payments. State owned clubs will do anything to gain an advantage.

Or when they are finishing their careers bring them out to Saudi or Qatar and pay them 1mp a week for a year in a league which isn’t regulated in the right way.

They’re the 9th team to do it, no?

Next CL season is the last time with 32 teams, right?

Yesterday was very strange. Excellent match, though. I found it weird to be rooting for Lukaku, something I’ve never done before. Then he’s in the way of a sure goal and heads the ball to Ederson. Quite cruel.

Like they couldn’t spend 300m anyhow :joy:

That’s not the point. This new new revenue stream is the license to “officially” back / cover some of their spend. We’ll be told that it’ll be all legit from now on and we all need to get with the program and quit looking backwards.
