UEFA Champions League (Part 1)

Ancellotti is toast as manager. They Madrista team are going to get slaughtered in the Spanish press tomorrow.

No league title and no CL title in the same season usually means the axe for any Real Madrid manager.

What does Camavinga actually offer Madrid

Haha. I’m sure he thought that was the FT whistle.

Arsenal have been very good. They know the league has gone. All their eggs are in the CL basket. They worked hard to get Saka back, and they are virtually full strength, with the bit between their teeth. Those Declan Rice free kicks were brilliant. And the Merino goal was well worked with a very tidy finish.

Credit where credit is due. I expect them to finish the job in Madrid.

And then lose to PSG :joy:

Either 2 things will happen, Arsenal go out in 2nd leg or they go on to win the whole thing.

Phenomenal by Rice, two top free-kicks in a short space of time. Different types also. But both with power and swerve. Poor guy, plays LCM pretty high up for Arsenal, but has to cover everyone’s backs for England.

It is a shame we didn’t play this Madrid team in the 2023 final.

The two teams who can come back against such a score line are us and Madrid. It’s next to impossible though. Nothing I saw today felt like they would score 3+ in next game without conceding. And they can’t rest players at the weekend as well.

A great night for the Woolwich wankers.

Well yeah they had to play Madrid away anyhow.

Or they go through and go out next round.

2 extra games for Arsenal, I’ll take that.

2 great free kicks

Early goal for Real Madrid and they could catch fire and still advance. Still, it is 75/25 in Arsenal’s favor, maybe more. But this win will probably do something for Arsenal’s belief, as they are still short of being a European powerhouse.

I’m actually most looking forward to PSG v Villa in this round.

Especially from a tactical point of view.

And it would be fully deserved.

Modric changed and waiting to get on the coach.

Now it reminds me a team who was 0- 3 down after the firs leg and went on to win 4 - 0 at home.

Time for Don Carlo to summon the spirit of Trent.

(I don’t care which teams is qualified or eliminated actually)
