UEFA Champions League (Part 1)

Danny Sturridge’s suit reminds me of my mum’s living room curtains. Exactly the same colour and pattern.

Tomorrow’s going to be a spectacle.

A proper semi final between 2 actual European giants, the numbers don’t lie.

They do, it looks like inter has won 8

Having the same clubs/winners is boring.

Unless it’s us.

I’ve thought about this.

I don’t want Arsenal to win the CL, I think their arrogance and sense of victimhood is immense. Arsenal supporters deride Liverpool as the “Victims” and spend the season whining about referees, injuries and their own managers ineptitude at buying a striker. The have a sense of entitlement that is stunning.
They moaned about being second to City, and asked questions about the legality of City winning the league for the last two years. But the same people took great pride in Liverpool being cheated by the same club, City.

Arteta has fuck all grace. He is a cardboard Guardiola with the same blueprint for success. Put a thug (Fernandiho, Rodri, Partey) to persistently foul in midfield…put a whiny diver (Silva, Grealish, Saka, Martinelli) on the wing to buy cheap fouls and then moan about those fouls not being given. Except City had more in their armoury.

Anyway…

I dont want PSG to win the CL either. I would prefer Inter of the four teams left.
You call out hypocrisy, and I understand that.
But I think its more duality. I suppose its abut picking the least obnoxious of two obnoxious choices. You don’t have to like either, you don’t even have to choose.

Completely agree with this. In an ideal world, they’d be forced to change owners, just like Cheaty and the barcodes. Arsenal have a lot of money as well, but at least, aren’t state-owned.

They’ve been panicking since they realised they didn’t have a divine right to win the league in an off-year for City.

Why do we have to care?

I only care about the competitions we’re in.

Because it’s modern fandom: you have to hate everyone who isn’t your team.

So now you have to decide who you hate the least out of the remaining teams. Note that this calculation is normally based upon the inverse correlation of the amount of “bantz” you can have at the other teams’ expense.

You don’t have to hate anyone.
I dislike Arsenal for a number of reasons as I outlined.

I don’t get involved in banter with supporters of other teams because I understand the pain of being on the wrong end of defeats.

I am open about not wanting Arsenal to win the CL. I really don’t want any of Liverpools PL rivals winning the CL…and much as I dislike some European teams I still prefer that no other PL team wins it. Villa would have been mildly acceptable I admit.

I don’t want Arse to win the CL because I don’t want them taking oxygen away from our PL win. I don’t want any of the other 3 to win it, but I’ll be pleased if PSG knock out Arsenal next week, they give us a guard of honour and we return the favour by giving them a hiding.
The psychological damage may even linger and fuck them up for the start of next season.

I had a quick look at their forum and these comments are just after our win on Sunday. To be fair there wasn’t too much hate on there for us…

Liverpool the club I don’t mind too much though.

But you can’t take it away from them, they deserved it this season. You don’t win the league by double figure points without being a top team.

Rather Liverpool than United, Sp**s, Newcastle. Nobody cares about City, at least Liverpool are a proper club.

Liverpool are far preferable to all the plastic oil/oligarch clubs and United who are largely a joke. I don’t even mind their fans

Congrats to Pool. They have been the most consistent team along with keeping their main players fit at key points in the season. Deserved winners.

All football fans can respect what Slot has done in one season, as most pundits and fans thought they had no chance with the loss of a charismatic manager and high profile players at their end of their contracts.

There were quite a few more like that too so mostly gracious in defeat I would say…

Go to the Online Gooner forum.
Specifically the Scum vs Victims thread.
Then tell me these scumbags are gracious.

Edit
Liverpool supporters are described as:

Bin Dippers
Thieves
Murderers
Vermin
Vile Cunts

There is a constant JFT 39 narrative, which focusses on Heysel and uses Hillsborough as a mock template to spout their bile. They refer to Hillsborough in the most derogatory manner. Despite all the inquiries and subsequent apologies, these tools blame Liverpool supporters for the tragedy.

I make no apology for disliking these people. You want to read lightweight (normal) comments then fair enough. This is the undercurrent of thinking that makes me angry.

So,
If its all the same with you I want the petrochemical sportswashing scum to beat them.

Who in their right mind would go onto an opposing teams supporters forum just to hate them even more?

Do you happen to know of any poster on here who regularly refers to opposing supporters as Vermin and Vile. I have noticed you never call him out for it…

I actually couldn’t care less.

I’ve factored in these teams will win and I am happy if Spurs win the Europa.

Why should I?

Seriously, the comments regarding Liverpool supporters are what I am talking about.

I don’t patrol here regarding occasional comments, and the Moderators don’t get involved as long as stuff isnt gratuitous?
The narrative surrounding Liverpool on that Arsenal forum is vile, hateful and inciteful.
It’s one Arsenal forum, maybe their official forum is heavily moderated?

There are occasional comments on here. Not with the same billous extremes or in the same volume as the Arsenal supporters comments about Liverpool.

@Rambler quoted an Arsenal forum.
My response was about the content of a particular forum.
We have members here who visit Blue Moon and Red Cafe etc, to gauge their reaction to stuff.
I was pointed in the direction of the Scum vs Victims thread and I genuinely was shocked by the intensity of feelings against Liverpool.

I mentioned it here because @Rambler had presented a cosy nice commentary from another site.

FYI

I am in my right mind.

I am delighted we are Premier League Champions.

I do not want Arsenal to win the CL - manager, cynical approach, I can’t warm to it. Any of it.

If their fans are letting themselves down with a lot of nasty stuff about us, then all the more I do not want them to win the CL.

All that stuff needs to be consigned to history, poverty shaming, reveling in tragedy and so on.

Spurs can win the Europa. They’ve suffered enough and Ange is a good red.
