Benfica is the 8th team

I think that was a purposeful omission so that it’s a redraw until they get city.

My perfect draw:

One half:

City v Chelsea
Bayern v Real

Other half:

Atletico v Villarreal
Liverpool v Benfica

Yeah almost exactly what I’d want except think I’d prefer Citeh to have Real in the QFs but maybe you’re right and Chelsea would soften them up better? Especially if they are away first leg.

Chelsea might not be a bad draw.

They may have to play home games behind closed doors.

If that’s the case I don’t want Citeh getting them

I’ll take City.

Knock them out of Europe and kill their chance of winning the league in the space of 2 weeks will make Pep’s salty tears so much more delicious

Over two legs we knock out the English followed by the German champions and get to beat the Spanish champions for the third time in the final.
That’s class!
(I’ll also accept beating Real Madrid after Bayern so that we can enjoy making comparisons with the 1981 team)

Jeez, Juve got trashed at home last night? I mean, I know they’re not a great side these days, but still… 0-3 at home to Villarreal.

Their complex in the CL goes on…

Benfica / Villarreal / Chelsea for me (coz they will be behind closed doors and I’ll pretty sure no fans at the away leg either

I get that we would like a relatively easy draw (although I don’t think it exists at this level) but I’d far prefer a team that we haven’t played already. On that basis I’d just want to avoid the English teams and Atletico.

Having said that, Benfica would be a nice one.

I really couldn’t give less of a shit about him. Us winning everything in sight is all I care for. Let Atletico kick the shit out of City, I don’t care.

I just want us to get the team we’ve played least recently, which I think is Benfica?

What’s the story behind this then?

I’m not entirely sure what the connection is but this isn’t a one off. They had the flag up after the Hillsborough inquest in 2016 and when they beat Utd last year.

Interestingly, their nickname is I think the yellow submarines.

Be great to play them in the next round

Yeah I think UEFA should be nice and let us play them.

Otherwise they are evil bastards.

Seriously
I’d rather us play a team that isn’t going drain us for 180 mins+ especially in the quarters we are going play every midweek if we go to the cup finals bar the last one I think that requires favourable ties we’ve rode a tough one and no one is easy but some are prefable to others

Yeah, I would have loved to have Ajax for this reason. :see_no_evil:

Salt y Pep?

I love the gesture but I remember when we played them in the Europa League a few years back. They were a bunch of twats.

I think it must have been something to do with this…

Also, I’m sure that one of the player’s basically dismissed Anfield’s atmosphere as nothing special (I know Marcelino GarcĆa Toral felt that the atmosphere was likely to inspire his players, but I have a vague recollection that one of their players was quite sneering about it…can’t find it now though)
