UEFA Champions League (Part 2)

Losing a CL like that is such a gut punch. And after four seasons of chasing the league and finally getting it, yeah there is a chance for a drop off. I don’t think they would have been anywhere near either trophy in a typical year. Got the lucky side of the draw and City have dropped off. Won’t even get into our season. Bit of a power vacuum at the top at the moment.

arsenal: an expensive Stoke City

It just goes shows that even the best football teams struggle against a well organised low block defence.

It is very very difficult!

especially an expensively assembled low block

Haven’t read the last 200 posts. What did you guys make of that German referee? :grimacing:

Took less of Arsenal’s bullshit than most PL refs, but didn’t go far enough.

Yeah, thats how they turned up. So glad, as they didnt deserve a Prem, never mind with a CL double.

Was thinking the same, for all our troubles, Pep leaving, Chavs rehiring in perpetuity, a revitalised Manure, the Prem looks wide open for next season. Might be first time in +20yrs for that.

Doesn’t need to be expensively assembled, coaching a team to play a low block is really easy compared to other defensive styles, it is all about denying space.

I understand why teams do it but it kills the games, then allowing the erosion of the rules regarding holding etc. It is killing the spectacle.

They had very dubious tie turning decisions go for them in the QF and SF as well so are quite fortunate to have even made the final

Best moment of the game was when he’d clearly had enough of their piss taking on the throw ins and blew for half time before they could take the corner. And that includes the football.

And in the first minute of the second half he booked Mosquera for time wasting during a throw in.

Just overheard a Chelsea fan and for every annoying football fan from any other club they will always out do them.

Well, if good guys can’t win, then the second best option is that the bad guys lose. In this case, Slot and Arsenal. Some day of football without Liverpool kicking a ball, eh…

I still can’t believe Arsenal lost, though. They had everything going for them this season - PL rivals falling apart and the easiest CL draw a finalist got that I can remember.

Our draws in 2017-2018 weren’t too tricky (apart from City, one of my favourite wins in the Klopp era), but we weren’t the finished unit by then yet. Still made it an entertaining run till the final.

I don’t even think Arsenal had anyone close to that City side. That draw was really really kind.

The MoTD coverage is so one-used it’s embarrassing. They basically laughed off Saka’s blatant double handball.

At least they’re consistent…

That 2006 number was forgivable against that Barca side. It is actually astonishing that PSG had more of the ball than maybe the best team in history for keeping possession

Oof. Less than 200 passes completed.
