I think our possible next opponents are one of Club Brugge, Galatasaray, Atlético Madrid, or Juventus.
That will presumably be narrowed down by the draw on Friday.
What i don’t get is. Isn’t Qarabag in central Asia (Azerbaijan) and Kairat Almaty in Kazakhstan. How come they are playing in European Football tournaments?
Is it due to them being part of the old USSR.
?
Big names in the 9-16 that we could draw in the last 16.
Hope Arsenal get Real or PSG….
How does the draw for the Playoffs work?
Kazaks and Azeri got to choose as they technically straddle both continents. I think the latter have been in UEFA since the beginning but the Kazaks moved a while back
Yeah that’s what I’m seeing elsewhere.
I think I’m on the wrong track here.
Whatever - we will still get a tough draw
I think we’ll get winner of either Brugge/Atletico or Galatasaray/Juve.
No it is shitty who are in 8 I think.
Mourinho lol
The relevant bit is the top 8 and first round bye. Real got bumped down to the play off round not just because of how their game ended, but because in the other game other team from Lisbon scored their won injury time goal to take them into the top 8 at Real’s expense. Just a wild wild sequence of events
The end of the Madrid game was absolutely wild. Real get two players sent of through sheer entitled petulance and the Benfica keeper pulls out an Alisson Becker.
Bruges thrashed Marseille, then put up a congratulatory message on their scoreboard to Marseille for qualifying, only to see the heroics in Lisbon put Marseille out altogether. But had Bruges beat them by one goal fewer they would have still gone through. Just top class trolling by the Belgians.
Belgian peasantry.
Atletico would be boring as we already played them this season and a few times in recent years. Though I wouldn’t mind trashing Galatasaray. Juventus would be nice and interesting because we haven’t faced them in a long time, since that magical night of offside traps in Turin 21 years ago.
Only caught up via highlights. The Benfica RM game was madness. Was confused as to why the keeper went up for the free kick at 3-2, but worked out it was all about the goal difference. Very disappointed to see RM players complaining and crowding the ref at the end. Benfica did something special, let them have their moment. The goal made no difference to where you ended up.
This is the biggest night in International football for decades. It just has to be. Surely bigger than Hellas winning the Euroes !!!
Fuck me, I don’t understand why the entire football world is not talking non stop about Bodø/Glimt !!!
