UEFA Champions League (Part 2)

I couldn’t believe the news. This is truly the most epic event of this century in football. Nothing, absolutely nothing comes close to being as big in football as this ! Probably in sports actually !!! Any elite sport !

A true (and those are so fucking rare) miracle !

Let’s face it regarding Madrid… it couldn’t happen to a better team.

Have to say the new format delivered again.

Brothers in arms. Kevin and Alexis both got the MotM awards in today’s final round of UCL group stage.

Yeah, and I watched ours and was completely and utterly blissfully unaware of the event in Madrid until 15 min after the game. Now, normally, watching Liverpool crush any team would be an epic main event, but honestly, beating Qarabag even 6-0 feels more than a bit overshadowed by this monumental event.

I am loving it  Karma has come back to bite them. It is like watching football version of the christmas pantomine :joy: . With all those super stars like Mbappe, Bellingham, Vinicious Jr etc.
We should have won that CL final in 2023. The Blancos think they are the only ones who should to win CL every year

We’re also in top 5, which also reiterates your point. :joy:

Oh dear. Depending on how the draw and results go, we might lose a member of TAN.

RIP @Magnus on your impending passing from euphoria.

Nah

It’s going to be a good night anyway (I honestly don’t think we are good enough to actually win the comp myself) ! Either we win and go deep, which would be blessed since we are such a lame duck in the league (although we play for UCL and Europa spots), or we become part of a fairy tale so far out and bizarre. Both positives; kind of.

In any case, this is the most premature of all premature doom-posts, mate. Glimt would have to beat Internationale or Real Madrid home and away. That sounds about as realistic as beating Atletico Madrid (who never lose at home) away and sooner or later probabillity is going to catch up.

Oh I just meant Bodo/Glimt dumping Real Madrid out, which only depends on them beating Benfica?

?

Bodø/Glimt will face Real Madrid or Inter Milan in the Play Off. That is of course an incredibly difficult round (would be honestly even for a much stronger team).
We shall see now on Friday who it will be

Who is the head coach there? Surely one to watch for the future.

Same as they have had since 2017 and lots of clubs follow and watch him. Kjetil Knutsen.

Probably one of the best managers in the world and certainly the one who have had the most impressive success when it comes to continuity in the entire world. I mean, he is mentioned as a successor to Guardiolo etc. (not that City would hire him).

Honestly he should be a far bigger name than most managers in the Prem, so I don’t understand that people have not yet heard of him after all of these years with steady progress and success. He is a bigger name than Slot was before he came to England.

(Personally I actually think moving to Celtic would be major step down in terms of sport and doubt a club like Celtic has anything other than more money to offer him).

Ah, he’s from 1968, so basically Klopp’s generation. A late bloomer…

He didn’t start out as a manager, but as a elementary school teacher. He worked as a teacher for 15 years, just coaching teams as a hobby (no one lives off footie in lower leagues in Norway).

So sure, he is very experienced as a coach, but at a non-professional level while he was a teacher:

Lise Klavenes, the Norwegian head of NFF, had him as a teacher when she was at secondary elementary school.

Gala vs, Juve
Brugge vs. Atletico

Interestingly, it’s Benfica vs. RM again. Come on Jose, you can do it!

I posted by mistake in the wrong thread:

Monaco v Paris SG
Galatasaray v Juventus
Benfica v Real Madrid
B. Dortmund v Atalanta
Qarabağ v Newcastle
Club Brugge v Atleti
Bodø/Glimt v Inter
Olympiacos v Leverkusen

there will be a draw late February to see which winners of the highlighted ties we play.

Guess we get to measure Qarabag against someone else.
