And Jota got injured which nearly cost us a CL place. It’s more costly to lose players to injury than lose a meaningless CL group game.
I don’t disagree I’m just saying what Klopp said, he played Jota because of the money involved by winning that match so I say no way in hell he will field a U23 team in San Siero.
It’s true that the match fee is important for us. But this year we have good backups and can easily rest 6-7 key players. Also, players like Takumi, Ox, Tsimikas will be raring to go to stake claims for more minutes in the following games.
Alisson can be rested if he wants too.
Back 4 can easily be rested.
Fabinho and Hendo are our only nailed on starters in midfield so they shouldn’t be anywhere near Milan or Porto.
Keita usually delivers when fit but with his injury problems he should not play.
In Denmark we had all our 4 attackers available. Jota and Mo started. Bobby and Sadio on bench.
Bobby will not be available for Milan and Porto so logically Klopp should be more careful with the other three.
Problem is that attackers - and especially deserved players like Mo and Sadio - they want to play, they want to score, they want to break records.
After what happened last year not using Mo, Sadio and Jota vs. Milan and Porto would be 100% the right thing.
The price money does not help when it comes to winning the trophies at the end of the season.
But truth is it’s not going to happen so personally I hope Klopp finds a compromise like 60 minutes in one game and 30 in the other for each of the three.
I believe we will rotate to a certain extent, but not to a radical point. And I’m fine with it.
Whatever side he puts out, Jurgen should aim to win.
Was thinking better if AM qualify than Porto or Milan because we know we have the beating of them if we meet them again in the later rounds. Besides, would rather Fraudiola or Tuchel come up against that snide Simeone, and have to come away unscathed from the bruising battles they likely to be
To be honest we also have the beating of Porto on what I saw.
Anyone heading to the Milan game?
Just got my ticket.
BTW, we could crate a tickets thread in the Albert like it was on TIA, could be useful.
Neco Nat Konate Kostas
Henderson Thiago Morton
Gordon Origi Minamino
I am sure Klopp will go stronger than that because this could be our 20th unbeaten game at home.
I think Klopp will include VVD/Matip for Nat, Ox instead of Origi who is possibly self isolating, and Salah/Mane/Jota for Gordon.
We can’t leave out Mo, we need to get our money’s worth until he signs a new contract.
So what?
I’d rather have players fit for the PL
Mmmm, € 2.5m just for beating your opponent in a CL match. All I have been hearing this summer is that there is no money to buy unless somebody left. We need those CL-euro’s.
Didnt playing players in dead rubbers nearly cost us the entire opportunity of playing in the CL?
The glow of 2.5m would soon wear off if we didn’t have a forward line for the December period.
I don’t mind players who need match fitness playing so if some of the injured Party are fit to play then fine, also not even against Thiago and Ox playing but
Mane, Salah, VVD and Fabinho are deffo no no’s along with Hendo.
Don’t have an issue with Matip playing as the guy only played his first game in two weeks on Saturday though that depends on who plays next Saturday.
It’s two months wages for Mo
I agree it is a dilemma but I still think Klopp will field a proper team against Porto and Milan. Firmino is on the way back so is Milner, Origi is ill isn’t it, that will not take weeks I hope.
Bobby not yet, the first ones who might be back training this week are Milner and Keita. We’ll hear what’s up with Robbo. Of course I’m saying this with Porto in mind.
I don’t get the concern regarding fielding a weak team against Porto and Milan.
Kelleher: Probably be a starter outside the top 4-5 PL clubs
Neco: Had a great Euro and WC qualification campaign
Nat: Nutcraker
Konate:
Tsimikas: Proven deputy of one of the world’s best LB
Morton:
Ox: Great player getting into his stride
Thiago: World class player getting into his stride
Minamino: Seems to have settled down at last
Mane/Salah:
That leaves just one spot in the starting XI.
Last night Jones tweeted a picture of himself against Porto. My immediate thought was that he was saying he is ready to play. He didn’t say this in words, so its possible the picture was not meant to convey that message but simply highlight the next game being Porto.
