Now that I’ve actually read what happened, I’m unimpressed. Sure they messed up, but unless they drew us and had to be redrawn, nothing materially changed.

United were drawn out against a team that they shouldn’t have been. I think there were also other teams that were not in the correct pots so there was no way that they could be drawn against teams that they could have been.
It’s an absolute mess and no-one will be happy (even in the event of exactly the same draw people will have a suspicion that it is fixed).
I think after the farce in the Formula 1 yesterday UEFA will be keen to be seen to be both squeaky clean and not at risk of litigation.

Atletico complained I think? It might have mattered if it altered the draw probabilities (and results), but it didn’t. There were still the correct number of balls, Atletico didn’t draw us and have to redraw. So a storm in a teacup, but I bet they’re not happy with their draw…

I think the ultimate issue is that the when AM were drawn, the corresponding balls for the tie excluded Man United. Meaning AM were more likely to draw a tough draw (Bayern), than get an easier draw (lol).
I think there were two other mistakes aside from one wrong draw. Someone posted a Twitter earlier on.
Manchester City should have got Wycombe Wonderers, so it will all have to be re-done.

To be fair, it is very, very difficult to put balls in a bowl and then take them out, especially with the budget limitations UEFA faces.
