@Mascot your opinion is making waves.

Look, I know that most people in here won’t wish to do so, but I want to congratulate Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds on getting married yesterday.

They look very happy together.

What the fuck is the point of this? We are surely well out of the 1800’s now?

There’s nutjobs in France wanting to reconquer maritime greatness. I don’t see it myself, perhaps I’m missing something?

It’s a good idea to bring this back. It all contributes to soft power, which will be increasingly important to the UK now we’re out of the EU.

Just as well we’re consistently ranked in the top two or three in the world at it but we need to maintain that status.

Club seriously out of touch lately

Considers arguing, thinks better of it. Night all.

I’m not sure about the whole voter ID issue.

The only occurrence of voter fraud that I ever heard of in the UK was student Corbyn voters who said they would vote for him twice using their home vote and their halls or residence vote.

I’m not sure how ID would prevent that as they would still be able to do it, just have to show their ID twice?

Other than that, I can’t imagine there would be enough people stealing another persons vote to make a difference to the outcome of any elections.

On the other hand, it doesn’t sound like obtaining ID will be any more problematic than putting yourself on the electoral register anyway.

Not sure how that would work, you have to declare your address from which you wish to vote in advance. Your address details are then checked when you go to vote.

She is also probably the Minister directly responsible for Kickstart, hence the visit.

The club is using the scheme to help young people in the area. Are you suggesting that it shouldn’t?

How is that being out of touch?

Students can legally register their home and university address but are only ā€˜allowed’ to vote at one of them. There’s nobody actually policing that though, so some said they were going to do it and encourage others to do the same. It was well documented at the time.

if it’s a good scheme then the club helping to promote it doesn’t bother me at all, to the contrary anything that helps good schemes should be applauded.
The question is is it a good scheme?

It’s fairly unimportant unless the students halls and their ā€˜home’ are in the same constituency. Which I would say is an abuse to start off with.

Most fans of the club and the area would be against the politician and everything that politician stands for. After the Hillsborough issue just there, inviting a conservative to the ground itself is seriously out of touch with the fans and there viewpoints.

She does appear to be a particularly unsavory person only interested in herself. Would probably be better to avoid her.

Some start up schemes in Europe are or appear very good. One in France gives good support for the 1st 3 years. Yes the administrative staff sometimes lack experience and that but with time as long as the scheme doesn’t get scuppered that should get better.
I am hoping the one in the UK is as well thoughtout and if so the minister responsible should get some acknowlegement. I do doubt that that Mims Davies has it in her though.

And that is different from any other polititian how?

Thety are all thieving lieing bastards
