Nobody could have predicted thatā¦
Hopefully the UK donāt see that as a sign of weakness rather than simply being pragmatic about where both sides are.
Heās 100% spot on, which is why I said that resolving the dispute resolution issue ought to be the easiest of the 3 main issues to resolve. Itās nonsense that itās currently a sticking point.
Fish and LPF are a little harder. Fish being more of an emotive issue, LPF being pretty fundamental especially from the EU side.
Itās the whole Brexit saga in one sentence. Kind of astonishing how the UK was a member of the EU for decades without the UK media ever understanding what the EU actually is. Or maybe they do and itās just more convenient that way.
While also somewhat overblown. From both sides btw.
I think one of the issues is that if there isnāt a deal the UK might need to immediately drop things like corporation tax extremely low to try and attract businesses in an effort to mitigate the economic shock of a No Deal Brexit.
Despite the fact that the UK almost certainly wouldnāt do that should there be a deal (it may even be constrained from doing so in the event of a deal) it wonāt exactly help reassure the fears from EU membersā¦āAha! Thatās exactly what we were afraid youād do, our fears are confirmed!ā
I still feel that theyāll ratify the bits that are agreed and carry on discussing the bits that remain (in line with the EUās apparent proposal reported by the BBC today).
Is it? Looked more like the emergency contingency measures the EU had in their pockets for the last cliff edge/no deal scenario to me. Little more than basic airline and road traffic. Oh yeahā¦and fishā¦of courseā¦

Youāre right, but I think it will make sense for both sides to go further.
I think it is exactly what was offered last time round.
It is and surprise surprise, even these contingency plans are including conditions ālevel playing fieldā etc.
This is why the EU refused cabotaging rights I guess
Temporary relaxation of the EU driversā hours rules for drivers carrying food and essential goods by road.
Amazing how far weāve come within just one year
Iām just curious to see if the UK will now accept these emergency plans, itās a little bit ridiculous now. Because, no matter how you twist and turn it, this ālevel playing fieldā and āfishā thing remains.
Nothing short of extraterritoriality from the EU.
