UK Politics Thread (Part 2)

Top work @redfanman

This thread truly is my favourite place on the net for news.

So there is a possibility the outcome could be the complete opposite of Truss’s mini budget where rich people get more heavily taxed?

Nice.

Does a successful Labour NC vote result in a GE or does it still count the same as a Tory NC vote (provided the rules change) and Tory members will vote the PM in again?

If Labour win an NC vote there would have to be a general election.

If Labour lose the no confidence vote, they actually win because the Tories will then find it incredibly hard to ditch Truss.

Labour literally can’t lose from putting in a NC motion.

So given they’re managed by Mr Useless, think they’ll do it?

As I’ve said multiple times, the most important job in politics is the leader of the opposition. You must have robust and competent challenge as a leader. Truss is fucking useless. If Starmer has anything about him, he should be going full tilt Ausie cricket at her. Foot on throat and push. What’s he doing?

Must not stand in the next election, must not stand, must not stand. Drinking less might help too

I don’t think he needs to do anything…

Just the essentials, like sleep, eat and poop … Very much like me.

I was of the same mind for most of Starmer’s leadership - that he was too restrained, almost too polite.

Lately, I have come around to a different view - he is far more cunning and patient than given credit for - he sets them up, then he shuts them down.

He seems to be doing a good job as the leader of his party.

He certainly is not an inspirational figure but comes across as a safe pair of hands.

Stylistically more a Rafa than a Jürgen then…

I admire his ability to play the long game.

My thoughts tonight before I go to bed goes to the lettuce. I hope it does well.

During the leadership race, as most on here are aware, I was routing for Truss. She has done me proud, I just couldn’t have wished for a funnier and entertaining style. Fucked it up even quicker than in my wildest dreams. (tried a ‘gormless’ imogi search but came up with nowt so just the usual ROFL)

Finally acting like a proper government.

…in a third world dictatorship.

Well, we’re certainly not in the third world (yet) and we absolutely have a democracy so sorry, can’t agree.

The funnier line would have been “Meanwhile, in other news, Klopptomist espouses the fundamentals of freedom of speech”. Always thought Swampy should have just been picked up and carted off during the bypass protest which filled the news for months. Ah, simpler times. Now we’re on the brink of nukes, electricity black outs, the economy absolutely going to shit, the pound tanking, Queeny’s dead and United aren’t in the relegation zone. Hmmmm, how much to drink watching us thrash City this afternoon, everything?

Democracies don’t introduce draconian legislation designed to crush dissent and stifle protest.

He was hiding in Vietnam style tunnels etc. Quite a slippery character by all accounts and I have some sympathy.

Did Newbury need a bypass? Absolutely 100%. Did they pick the best route for it? Environmentally 100% no, but I couldn’t say whether another route was more viable or not.

Again the world is not black and white.
